If you are going to play around with the air bag you MUST disconnect the negitive terminal from the battery first.

Also from memory the airbag is removed from the underside of the dash after you remove the glovebox. I don't think they just pop out.

Why do you think there is not a air bag in the dash? By law it would have to have one to be on the road and get complied.

Note: You should stay away from any wires that are wraped with a yellow tape or sleeving when the battery is connected as these are all part of the SRS

Good Luck ;)

If I just want to pop the cover off, should I remove the neg terminal?

My car has an aftermarket steering wheel which came fitted when it was imported from Japan. This leads me to believe either A, they legitimately wanted an AM wheel(for what ever stupid reason) or B the car was in an accident and the cover was just popped back on and the genuine wheel replaced with an AM wheel. There are no cosmetic or visual factors to determine an accident. This airbag thing will give me a solid base. The airbag light comes on, then turns off but its not hard to install a resistor to fool the system.

As i said above if you are going to touch anything to do with the SRS you should disconnect the negitive terminal.

Also unless something dodgy happend at compliance then it will not have been in a accident as they are not allowed to be imported if they have (someone correct me if i am wrong) Mind you if it has an aftermarket wheel then the compliance shop should not have passed it.

Well good luck and take the terminal off just to be safe hey. ;)
