Hi all, I am currently residing in NZ. Alot of ppl with a car imported from japan will normally get their car stereo's radio bandwidth extended for local radio stations. I read in another post here that this is also done in Australia but seems like the quality of the reception is not too good. I got my previous 2 cars from Japan's (a Toyota and a Mazda 6 / Atenza) radio bandwidth extended and they seems to work pretty well esp when I am in Auckland although quality may get abit worse when I am in suburban areas.

I am keen to get my S2 2004 v35's radio bandwidth extended as well (when it arrives in a few weeks' time) but is keen to find out more about the process:-

1) Is this a very complicated process for the v35 i.e. do I need a person who knows the car very well to do the bandwidth extension or risk affecting the entire radio and other electrical items in the car?

2) Has anyone here who has done the bandwidth extension had any problems subsequently with the car's electrical wirings and system after doing the extension due to bad workmanship / inexperience ppl doing the job?

Anyone's help on this is most appreciated! Many thanks in advance!

i was told it was a $30-60 parts that goes in line with the aerial and just needed a +12VE and ground.

can't see why you needed a meta-physicist who work for NASA to do that...

any auto electrician (or yourself if you have time) can do it.

Thanks rs73! Just want to be 100% sure on this! I intend to get the dealer importing the car for me to do it b4 i get the car, but just want to be absolutely sure of this 1st in case there's a risk of something going wrong. There's no Chris Rogers / Andy, etc here in NZ that I can turn to at the moment.

Anyway, does anyone here know any good reliable experts of the car in NZ particularly Auckland just in case if I need some help from him/her.

Thanks!

I'm not the be all and end all of these cars.. I simply work on a fair few of them. there are plenty of people that understand teh concepts of these things and they would probably be in the local yellow pages.

as for doing the band expander - lower dash comes out.
