hay mate

ive had several fast cars and i wouldnt be investing 150,000 into a car if i didnt know how to drive would i

my question was about the cars with equal drivers skill.

marc

ill have some pretty good suspension setup and wide as f**k rims on the back ill be investing heavily on traction and keeping it down as best i can.

mickey thompson drag slicks should be good enough lol.

also throwing the whole nismo suspension arms catalogue at it

You spent $150,000 on your GTT? Holy shit :domokun:

also by faster do you mean

who has a higher trap speed?

or

who wins the drag race?

as you may loose the drag race but have a higher trap speed, so you may be "faster" but still loose

ie a vl turbo with transbreak spooling for 30 second will always loose, but have a mega high trap speed - which may be what you call "faster"

compensation I would say

compensating for what mate??

just trying to do a lil something different

yeah im close to 150k

heres a basic rundown of the costs

car was 30k

engine is 40k

gearbox is 10k

clutch, diff, tail shaft etc 10k

brakes 6k

suspension 3k

body, kit, paint 10k

rims 7k

2nd set of rims 5k

cage, seats, harnesses 7k

carbon parts 10k

gauages 1.5k

ecu 2.5k

thats 142k

doesnt include other stuff like seam welding half the chassis, the carbon dash that im probs gonna buy, and the stuff that has come out of the car like the 9000 stereo that was in it as my daily.

also my best mate is building it and i help out where i can so im saving heaps on labour as well

not a single piece of the engine or electronics and 95% of the carbon was second hand

and a lot of it is custom stuff

my mate has a stanza with a sr20 putting out decent power (runs c16 and a big turbo at 30psi). revs to 9000rpm (launches at 6800rpm). he said that the hardest thing to do is try and change out of first gear without it bashing on the limiter for ages. it revs up so fast that you don't have time to gather it up off the line and then grab the next gear before it is banging on the limiter

Can't help but laugh at the number of people putting their money on the GTR. They're quick, undoubtedly, but really. Check how many AWD cars are below 10 seconds in Australia, heck in the world. Now check for under 10s RWD. You'll be going for years sorting through how many RWD cars there are. They've been developing RWD drag cars for a lot longer, AWD is still playing catch up in this field. And can I ask, if you can put all your power through two wheels without spin, why do you need the front wheels working too? AWD was developed for when you couldn't do that.

In short, my money's on the GTT.

also the gtt can run mega small front tyres and save friction, not sure if its worth much.

this thread is insane!!! those power figures are just out of this world haha

btw ~150k spent on the car? i think i just won't mod mine lol :'(

yes but do a search on how many 10 second gtr's there are and how many 10 second rwd skylines there are.

You guys know the fastest street legal/manual Supras in the world would run with some of the fastest Pro drag GTRs in the world? If the RWD car has good suspension setup, driver, tyres etc then RWD starts becoming a bonus where an AWD car becomes a liability. We aren't talking <400wkw street tyred cars where most of the answers run a lot more true...

I just won't bet tbh. The R34 has imho by far more potential, but it will be substantially harder to get to said potential. A T04Z R33 GTR will be a 10s, a GT42R GTt SHOULD be in the single digits if everything is done right.

unless the GTT has a good suspension setup id put my money on the GTR winning as you are going to have traction issues in 1st and 2nd possibly even 3rd gear in which time the GTR will just walk away from you. both cars starting at 100km/h would be a different story though.

Possibly! Possibly have traction issues?!

With 700hp and RWD I'd be surprised if he's not still wheel spinning across the finish line.

The 4WD will win simply for the fact it can get the power to the ground. 4WD will be enough to overcome the HP and weight disadvantage.

As for the posts stating "too many variables", how about a bit of conjecture? Of course it's impossible to know definitively who would win until the race is done, but lets just put on our "what if" hats for a second and debate who would and who wouldn't.

I'm gunna bet he means first across the line.

After all, that's all that matters.

    • I would not be surprised if you are the only person on earth that has the interest/desire to do that lol.  The Haltech base map is a really good starting point, the car will fire easily and drive very well, even on mild boost levels. To me, following your advice sounds like some sort of ancient Chinese water torcher lol (this is not an insult Josh, never change <3)
    • Those car show concepts from the 2000's and 2010's like the Floria and IDx were brilliant and should've gone ahead, at least one of them. But neither Honda nor Nissan are thinking about affordable performance any more, which is truly sad.  Even if Toyota's liquid hydrogen ICE development reaches the point where it's commercially viable and the infrastructure to support it, Honda/Nissan would have to wait until Toyota allow fee access to their patents to offer it with any smaller performance models they released to take advantage of it.
    • A sporty manual RWD coupe with a IL4 Honda engine would only be a good thing I assume we won't see anything released for a few years though, unless informal talks and designs have been going on for a few years,  and due to the current, and future, emmisions and safety requirements, I assume anything "sporty" they would do would be at least some hybrid thingie And hopefully anything they are thinking of has nice lines, without lots of plastic and fake bits hanging off it like that horrendous FK8 that looked like it was designed by a 13 year old The other issue of course in the current market is cost, currently the type R is around $70k, a twin is around $50k Meh, I'm old and grumpy and would rather buy a older model car and waste my coin on that than buying anything currently available new
