might be worth getting a consult cable, that should show you any errors, as well as what the afm voltage is doing when it is like that. if the engine is in the vl in your avatar and you don't have the consult port then that may make things a little bit more difficult.

you could try unplugging the afm when it is doing it to see if that makes a difference. also if you happen to know anyone with a s1 r33 who you could borrow the afm would also be something to try. could probably check the afm voltage on the harness where it plugs into the ecu as well as at the afm to see if it is an issue in the wiring or in the sensor.
