maddowse
is this the the same as the r34 ??? i have an r34 series 2 and want to put a series 1 bar on Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/324226-front-bar-series-1-2/#findComment-5296277 Share on other sites
LiQuid IcE
all r34 bars are the same. wasnt aware there were different series. r33 s2 bar will fit on but it wont line up with the headlights. around the guards will be fine. you have to change headlights, re0 bar and bonnet if you want to do it properly Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/324226-front-bar-series-1-2/#findComment-5296406 Share on other sites
maddowse
yeah i turns out there is i keep getting told i have a very rare car but i dont know how true that is but its a 2001 r34 gtt series 2 manual 4 door and yeah there is a difference in the front bumper if you have a look at my garage/photos youll see what i mean, thanks for your help though Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/324226-front-bar-series-1-2/#findComment-5296907 Share on other sites
.:: GimpS-R34 ::.
How is it rare? Yeah there are 2 series in the r34.. And yes you can change the bars over in both series as they are the same fitment.. Just different design.. maddowse
so the reenforcement bar doesnt need to be changed ?? if you read what i wrote " i keep getting told i have a very rare car but i dont know how true that is" but what they said when they saw it was that there wernt many 4door manual turbos made in 2001 and thats why there is no listing on any car insurence data base. but as i said i dont know how true that is it might be they just said that because they didnt want to admit there database wasnt up to date . but yeah thanks for the help the r33 post had me thinking because all i was going to do was change the bumpers and front reo bar but if it was going to be pannals and bonnet i would have had to re think Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/324226-front-bar-series-1-2/#findComment-5298005 Share on other sites
.:: GimpS-R34 ::.
Yeah ok i was just wondering why they were saying it was rare.. Keep your panties on ..Yeah 2001 was the end year for the GTT.. So there possibly isnt many of that year imported over here as maybe jap owners are still keeping theirs.. Insurance just really need to know that its a series 2 GTT.. as the 2000 model is the same.. Both are basically the same anyway except diff looks.. And no you won't be required to change bonnet and panels... maddowse
ok thanks for that ? here is a question whats the diff locks you talk about ?? because i was going to ask on the forums later my diff doesnt act like lsd diffs iv had in the past , still turns normal with out tyre skipping but if im heavey on the throttle it lights up the wheels (normal ) but if im accelerating on a straight and then back off the trottle and turn it sends the back out like you would epect from a mini spool or a solid diff (u use to run a solid diff in a holen for rally and the only way to turn at speed was to back off before the corner so you could get the rear unstuck them power on to take the corner) my mates 98 model does not ack like my one . or is it just r34 diffs react different ?> but thanks for your help as i said i dont know why he said it was rare as iv seen nothing backing it up on these forums Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/324226-front-bar-series-1-2/#findComment-5299256 Share on other sites
.:: GimpS-R34 ::.
LOL sorry.. i was being lazy.. i mean different looks.. series 2 has different seats, gauge colours, tacho, front bar, etc.. they are the same engine wise etc.. not different headlights etc.. just visual stuff.. I don't think that its rare.. I think that there arent many 4 door 2001 in aus yet.. As they are probably still owned by their japan owners.. There is nothing different between a 2000 & 2001 as they are both series 2.. R34 -_-
What a load of crap, R34 series 1 won't fit a series 2 unless u mod a few things, even then you will have a huge gap between the bonnet and bumper. The front reinforcing bar needs changing and the bars under the headlights need changing, its lines up fine with the panels but leaves a big gap under the bonnet, oh and then there's the wires for the indicators, either buy new tips or trim the bits of plastic so they can slot into the ugly series 1 indicators btw i have a manual series 2 R34, they aren't that rare I've seen quite a few in my town, turb and non turb Edited June 18, 2010 by R34 -_- Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/324226-front-bar-series-1-2/#findComment-5300936 Share on other sites

maddowse
ignor that i can see your profile pic you stayed with the standard series 2 bumper , have you installed a FMC how does it go fitting in and getting flow ? R34 -_-
I bought the series 1 bar for $50 but decided it wasn't worth leaving it on if it didn't fit 100%, you could buy an aftermarket fiberglass bar and modify it a lot easier than the plastic factory one. And as for the huge gap, that might be due to having an aftermarket bonnet... I wouldn't have much of a clue about a FMIC, but if you wanted the series 1 bar just for that then i would suggest the factory Altia (some call it nismo) front bar as its got similar air flow but looks nicer (with an aftermarket lip) Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/324226-front-bar-series-1-2/#findComment-5303940 Share on other sites
.:: GimpS-R34 ::.
did you change the reo bar.. cause they are diferent heights.. which would lower your bar.. this he already mentioned he was going to buy.. never seen a gap in the bonnet b4.. maybe lower the stops? or reo may have dropped bar again.. and indicators he already knew about and was changing.. my mate fitted a s1 bar easily with trimmed reo though.. also aftermarket front bars on r34 are sold as that.. not seperated into s1 & s2.. but again you gotta trim reo to fit on some of them..
