Hi Steve-SST, I have never claimed to be "Australias resident Expert", if you read my signature you will note it says..........................

"I don't own or work for a workshop"

"I don't know everything"

Unlike you, I have nothing to sell, I don't have to impress potential customers, I make no money out of this stuff. When I don't know the answer to someone's question, I say so. I have no need, or want, to pretend to have more knowledge than I do. When I make a comment or a recommendation it is from personal experience, not regurgitated from the suppliers publicity.

I think I have made my opinions on dyno comps well known. You and I both know how to "get" a good power reading. It is way too easy to achieve a number for a 10 second power run. It is a totally different proposition to achieving a good set of 1/4 runs or a consistent lap time on the circuit.

I get very tired of guys with excuses when they loose on the track; it was on low boost, it only had premium in it, we retard the timing for the road, we run it rich on the road to save detonation, it had normal tyres on it, the bonnet was closed, I can't get any traction, it's got the wrong plugs in it, it's too hot today etc etc.

The BS stops when the flag drops and there ain't no flags on the dyno, so in my opinion the BS continues there.

your right, we in WA are a fair bit behind you guys... our street cars only run low 11's... The old grey r34 ran 11.13, Ant ran 11.4, has Danny's car done an 11 yet Steve?

Thing is, these cars are street driven every day... well, Ant's is street driven when he's not driving the 1600 :-) (400+ hp on the old motor, wasnt it Steve?)

I see one person pushing a barrow.

And another without a barrow to push.

Quite frankly, why on earth workshops persist in posting on forums is beyond me. It makes them look decidedly silly. Right or wrong, it just seems too much like self promotion. Normally businesses need to donate in order to promote themselves on here, steves getting all his plugs in for free.

i think he supports the wa section of the club pretty well and helps out alot of people on here as does sydneykid. only natural those who know the most will clash occasionally, makes it more interesting:) no one else can argue with 'em hehe

Err, back on topic.

If you were adamant about running your car without AFM's, there is PowerFC Pro software available, which instead uses MAP sensors. But, like Sydneykid said, there really isn't an advantage/disadvantage in using AFM's anyway. Huge power figures can be pulled regardless.

PowerFC's have pretty much everything listed in the first post (knock, efi, afm, speedlimiter, timing), with an optional boost controller (either the PowerFC EBC, or the AVC-R). Heck, the PowerFC is quite well known for having great knock protection.
