so you wanna sell a 370rwkw skyline buy a swift like your boyfriend's because it is quiet and smooth?

srsly, you need a to just harden up and deal with the noises/clunks etc the car makes and enjoy the 40k you have spent

do you ever track it? i'm guessing no.... if not, go track it and you'll know what to do

i sold my 290rwkw skyline a few weeks ago and instantly regretted selling it...

but then... i bought a GTR haha

not as quick as my old car but -9s will soon fix that...

my point is that it will be hard for you to adjust from a 370kw skyline...

even if you buy the sti... down the line i rekon you'll probably end up spending a shitload of $$ to make it noisy and squeaky aswell

I myself still like my car, but I am over the suspension and the fuel consumption. I realise thought that 1) I'm not going to get anywhere near the money I spent on it back and 2) I still like the driving experience I get from it.

Just need to get a daily or something. (Sucks that I still want to buy a gtr :P )

yeah or we could all just stop feeding the trolls :P:D

Mate, I take everyones opinion on board, except f..K wits like you. If you don't have something to contribute, post your bullsh!t elsewhere.

Thanks for the comments fellas.

Just washed my car getting it ready for selling.

Just on the way to the car wash a raced a VZ HSV off the lights, it kicked my a$$! Why? Because I can't get traction! Maybe a wrx is the go? lol

Cheers boys

put 100kg in the boot and dump the clutch at a 2000rpm...thatll solve your problems.

From what I remember you didn't really spend a heap on suspension, hence he lack of traction

IMHO you haven't enjoyed your car like you should have... Spend a lil more and keep it for a few years

as I said that is from memory and cbf searching

If you are looking at an STI, you should also consider an Evo.

I have had a 32 and 34 GTR and I must say on the street the Evo isnt

as much fun. It is practical though, 4 doors, not too low, ultra reliable etc.

Where i love the Evo is on the track. It is without doubt so much cheaper to track

frequently than any Skyline. That may be in part due to it being so much newer.

They really are a tough vehicle and you can still have modify them to a point where they

are extremely quick whilst still being girlfriend/wife friendly!

For me it was the best compromise being both Practical and capable.

OH!!!!

ok first of all i would like to express my sincerest apologies, from me - to you...

i thought you were one of those guys who is a one post wonder who asks a really hard question that turns into a HUGE debate among members then starts a thread about it and just - - doesn't contribute himself

i honestly thought you opened this thread for shits n giggles then let everyone argue over it then disappear and never read it again or read what people were saying

seeing as you ARE a real guy not just some jerk i will gladly offer my opinion - i have a lot of insight into this first hand and what i say will definately help your decision

i'm about to go out n meet my gf for lunch but after i get back i'll write you! honest!

and sorry again - but it happens often

"what car should i get"

"what's a good first car"

"can someone help me import this?"

and the thread goes for like 8 pages before anybody stops n thinks "is the OP even reading this shit?" haha

but yes - very sorry about that!

okay matey i'm back - let's chat

first of all

if you're thinking of selling - have a read of this

if that article i wrote months ago doesn't make you think twice - then... so be it...

but you seem to be ... how you say - more obsessed with power and strength of a car as opposed to "just wanting to drive something different"

that was posted by me in october 2009... and i've loved my car to pieces the entire time... after a polish etc... it became this..

zzcefiro1.jpg

i was in the same boat as you - wanting to sell cos i fell out of love with it - then i fell back in love after a wash n stuff

but now the car is being sold - even though i love it... i'm wanting it to move on to a different owner that will love it the same way that i have - and luckily it seems i've found a great potential buyer to carry the torch of that car...

and i'm replacing it with this one

p1.jpg

after 6 years of owning the cefiro..

so - honestly i think your reasons for selling are not genuine reasons...and import owner owns an import for their HEART...

we don't own imports because of our heads.. i mean if we used our heads it's a lot easier for us to go onto the lot of a suzuki dealership sign on the bottom of a piece of paper n pay 70 bucks a week for the forseeable future to have a "brand new car"

i mean THAT is thinking with your head really - you get full warranty coverage, full over the counter parts network, customer service, brand new EVERYTHING

but if you're anything like me - you won't care about that glitsy garbage that is perpetuated by western society - that "new" is good...

it's not.

let's have a budget of ... let's say 25K actuallly fvk that... 20K

20K gets you a brand new suzuki swift (that's including all the intrest you pay etc - that's also for the RE4 edition)

yum yum - we both have the "my gf drives a swift" thing in common, they're fun cars to drive don't get me wrong...

suzukiswift3.jpg

awww look at you driving around in your brand new swift - don't you look cute there ;) and to think all you had to do was sell that twin turbo 2.6 ltr AWD import that you used to love

hmm... or... 20K budget

23ld0sj.jpg

...supra RZ.

3 litre seq. twin turbo that's fulleh sick

so basically - if you're ready to leave who YOU are as a person... then go right on ahead, buy that suzuki swift, be the guy that everyone doesn't care about when they drive past in their wrx... get yourself that corolla and think of all that money you'll save by driving around in a car that gave you NONE of the happiness you felt in your GTR

or..

rekindle that love for the GTR... go give your headlights a polish... go buy some RG JTC N1 or Tein COMFORT spec coilovers... get some better tyres - ones that will actually Achieve traction none of this nankang garbage... take it to a detailer... give it a vaccum or a polish..

the answer's pretty obvious... people gravitate towards imports for two reasons... either their uniqueness and the fact they flat out prefer to have an import over an ADM car...

...or the fact they want to have the biggest dick in the pissing contest that is the traffic light grand prix...

if it's reason #2 - then you're pretty ready to sell your car if you've lost a race to an HSV (why you bothered racing an HSV i don't know... i never give them the pleasure) but if you're upset that your car doesn't "drive hard enough" then please - sell the car to someone that will appreciate it and deserve it... if you're prepared to get rid of your pride and joy because it doesn't take off from a set of lights as fast as a HSV then sorry to say it but you don't deserve to own a GTR

.... i knew that!

;) hahaha

ok well cheers for the correction

but rule still applies... maybe the car could do with "more mods"

there's more to making a nice car than just engine...

ie - better aero... BBS lm 19"... softer suspension setups etc

You will regret it.

My car has been off the road for about 3-4 months and I am going nuts. I had an Evo7 as a daily driver but to be honest, even regardless of it's gravity defying drivetrain, and that is was likely faster through the corners than my skyline, it was boring! It wasn't hard to give it up for a towcar.

My vote, seeing you spent so much money, and if you have the space, keep driving it until you are in a position to get your daily wrx, and keep it for the track.

Why is traction such a big issue? Get some better tyres!

I have a 33, and in reality its very quiet and comfortable except for the exhaust.. change your suspension maybe?

WRX hasn't got that X factor for me, it just looks like a shitbox with a body kit stuck on it. Maybe thats because thats what it is!

My opinion anyway, if a WRX sticks its hands down your trousers and squeezes then go for it.

    • That's a short. Find the short. It will be somewhere between that fuse and the headlight. Start by removing the plugs from the back of the headlight and dimmer switches, and measure resistance to earth. Supply side (power from the fuse) should have none. The other side should have resistance compatible with whatever globe(s) is there (which is relatively easy to say for a normal globe, perhaps not as easy to say for LEDs). Anyway, if you have very low resistance, you defo have a short. Then you just have to run the wiring like you're running the bowel of a dog (on the operating table) that has swallowed something it wasn't supposed to.
    • Hey guys, need help figuring out why my driver side (RH) fuse 15amp keeps blowing. The Driver Sides Headlamp is out, i replaced these a long time ago with LED ones that were working for 1-2 years. Now, the driver side light is out and i traced it back to a broken fuse. I replaced the 15 amp fuse in the engine bay and as soon as i flip the headlight on, it blows the new fuse. Any idea what's going on?
    • I found the same with Subaru’s.  I own and love the SG9 Forester, after that model 2008+, Subaru threw the ugly stick at all their line up and somehow managed to make them look worse with every succeeding year.  lol
    • It's something we all have to consider as time marches on. Also consider lifted rally MX5 conversion at that point.
    • I should be fine for a few more years, whilst I do have arthritis I also exercise and do mobility training every day to keep as fit and healthy as I can, military life, which is the actual cause of most of my joint issues, has set daily regimes, which I weirdly enjoy I also train alot smarter now, not really focusing on lots strength or puffy muscles, I'm more focused on maintaining what I have for my future older self, I actually train as much mobility now as I do exercising Check out this "simple" drill I have been doing daily prior to training now for a while now, this has worked wonders in my all round mobility
