"The GT-R had been conceived with one goal in mind: to win in Group A motor racing and put Nissan at the top of the pile occupied by race cars like the Ford Sierra RS500 Cosworth, BMW M3, and the big Aussie bruiser, the Holden Commodore…" [Andy Butler]

This is an official SAU event, to commemorate the 21st birthday of the R32 Skyline GT-R, with all SAUers welcome. Starting at Tench Reserve on the Nepean River, we will drive through the Blue Mountains National Park via Richmond, Bell, and Mount Victoria, ending up at the Edge Cinemas at Katoomba, where we have arranged a special, private screening of the highlights of the 1992 Tooheys Bathurst 1000, an unforgettable race which helped cement the R32 GT-R in Australian motorsport history.

Event Date: Sunday, 10th October, 2010 (10/10/10); 9.00 AM

Please note this event will go ahead rain or shine.

Cost: Cinema tickets are $15.00 per person, first come; first served. Maximum 10 tickets per person. Limit of 365 tickets available. If all tickets are sold out, you are more than welcome to join us for the cruise from Penrith to Katoomba via Bell.

While you wait for the others to arrive, and before the session begins:

Our sponsors for the day, Just Jap of Kirawee will have plenty of goodies on display at their stall and Top Secret Imports of Blacktown will also be present with their car display.

A professional photographer from Performance Imports, and a camerman from Motive DVD will be covering the event. Look out for a feature in their upcoming magazines and DVDs.

Credit card details will be manually processed with safety. Tickets are transferable but not refundable. Bring your tickets for admission and door prizes! Tickets cannot be issued prior to payment being received. Tickets are on sale as of Saturday the 12th of June.

Other Notes:

If you want anything brought up from Just Jap or Top Secret Imports, call them beforehand and they will try to oblige. Say hello to our sponsors as they've donated more than $1,000 to the Children's Hospital already as sponsors of this 21st birthday of the R32 GT-R.

Special thanks go to Chevron / Channel Seven for their permission to publicly screen the highlights of the '92 Bathurst 1000, and to Motive DVD for permission to screen our special feature.

If you're not already a member of SAU, speak to one of our organisers who can help sign you up on the day.

We organisers from SAU look forward to seeing you there. And so too our sponsors.

Hey guys,

Here are the pictures of "The Edge" itself (see attachments). After going through the route of the cruise, this is the kind of comfort and style I look forward to after a long and hard drive :-) And you can bet I'll be pigging out at the kiosk lol

^^^ Actually yes,

Very memorable: on our honeymoon 30/12/79 >..., we argued for 1500km across the 'bor. Summer heat - bad at Kalbarri.

We're both first-born you see. ;) Both used to our own way before our fellow siblings were born. :D

Really pleasant memories tho' of Ceduna, views of the Bight, Sterling Range, Esperance, Tall timber country to the south, Margaret R., Perth, Lancelin, Murchison R & Kalbarri, Hippo's Yawn, Coolgardie, Kalgoorlie. You can have Norseman & Ongerup tho'.

I wasn't prepared to take my Alfetta GTV knowing how notorious Alfas were about breakdowns + Alfa parts were as scarce as hen's teeth. So we drove my Mum's '78 Skyline.

Am itching to 4WD up N-WA in a couple of yrs. :w00t:

You drove a C210 across Australia?

and how did it go?

I'm looking at doing Perth> Adelaide>Melbourne > Perth in September for Skyline Nationals.
