"The GT-R had been conceived with one goal in mind: to win in Group A motor racing and put Nissan at the top of the pile occupied by race cars like the Ford Sierra RS500 Cosworth, BMW M3, and the big Aussie bruiser, the Holden Commodore…" [Andy Butler]

This is an official SAU event, to commemorate the 21st birthday of the R32 Skyline GT-R, with all SAUers welcome. Starting at Tench Reserve on the Nepean River, we will drive through the Blue Mountains National Park via Richmond, Bell, and Mount Victoria, ending up at the Edge Cinemas at Katoomba, where we have arranged a special, private screening of the highlights of the 1992 Tooheys Bathurst 1000, an unforgettable race which helped cement the R32 GT-R in Australian motorsport history.

Event Date: Sunday, 10th October, 2010 (10/10/10); 9.00 AM

Please note this event will go ahead rain or shine.

Cost: Cinema tickets are $15.00 per person, first come; first served. Maximum 10 tickets per person. Limit of 365 tickets available. If all tickets are sold out, you are more than welcome to join us for the cruise from Penrith to Katoomba via Bell.

Your $15 ticket includes cinema admission and a $1.50 donation to the Children's Hospital @ Westmead.

While you wait for the others to arrive, and before the session begins:

Our sponsors for the day, Just Jap of Kirawee will have plenty of goodies on display at their stall and Top Secret Imports of Blacktown will also be present with their car display.

A professional photographer from Performance Imports, and a camerman from Motive DVD will be covering the event. Look out for a feature in their upcoming magazines and DVDs.

SAU merchandise will be available too, e.g. caps, T-shirts, pit shirts, lanyards etc.

If enough people are interested, a hot/cold buffet can be arranged at The Edge. Otherwise light snacks are available.

Event ends. Exit to the cinema complex is via Civic Pl, which leads to the Great Western Highway (cannot exit the way we came in).

Credit card details will be manually processed with safety. Tickets are transferable but not refundable. Bring your tickets for admission and door prizes! Tickets cannot be issued prior to payment being received. Tickets are on sale as of Saturday the 12th of June.

Other Notes:

If you want anything brought up from Just Jap or Top Secret Imports, call them beforehand and they will try to oblige. Say hello to our sponsors as they've donated more than $1,000 to the Children's Hospital already as sponsors of this 21st birthday of the R32 GT-R.

Special thanks go to Chevron / Channel Seven for their permission to publicly screen the highlights of the '92 Bathurst 1000, and to Motive DVD for permission to screen our special feature.

If you're not already a member of SAU, speak to one of our organisers who can help sign you up on the day.

We organisers from SAU look forward to seeing you there. And so too our sponsors.

You may way to post this one in the NSW events...

As Penrith is a few km's from Brisbane...

PS> Good info and well set out event...

We wouldn't have considered ourselves hospitable if we didn't invite you Queenslanders!

My family is mostly in Cairns, and my Dad was raised in Cairns!

Yes, we've posted in every state, as we did last year with the R34 GT-R 10th ANNIV.

So far, this time around, we already have SAUers from SA & ACT, and we'd love to help you guys out any way we can.

We've even got a nearby Motel that has a security compound for the Nissans. :)

So, from what Terry's saying, I guess all I can say is...

Roadtrip to NSW!

The ACT guys are mad keen to have you Queenslanders down too :D

In fact, when you make arrangements, GTRKat (ACT) can fill you in on which Penrith motel has the security compound for the Skylines :rofl2:

Tickets started off with 365x

There are still plenty available > but we're down to the high 200s atm.

Hey guys,

Here are the pictures of "The Edge" itself (see attachments). After going through the route of the cruise, this is the kind of comfort and style I look forward to after a long and hard drive :-) And you can bet I'll be pigging out at the kiosk lol

Only two weeks until we kick off! smile.gif

Here are a couple of pics of what we're giving away as Major prize number 2 - a 1/18 scale die-cast model of the 1993 BP TRAMPIO R32 GT-R Group A race car, by AutoArt. Limited edition, one of 3,000 units and comes with a numbered certificate.

All the major prizes will also be accompanied by an engraved plaque to commemorate the occasion.

As we're celebrating the R32 GT-R, these awesome prizes will be targeted to R32s on the day - so particularly if you're bringing a 32, make sure she's waxed and looking beautiful on the day! smile.gif

why can't we do a 21st anniversary in Qld?

why can't we do a 21st anniversary in Qld?

No reason why!

If you'd held it up in Qld, I would love to have been entertained by yourselves.

I'm not sure whether or not this is in your Brissie Courier Mail yet, but...

:P If you can get your hands on to-day's

Daily Telegraph - Cars Guide Cover Story re:...

* R32 N1 GT-R

* One of SAU's favourite sons and his love of it

* 21st Anniversary of the R32 GT-R Event

I drove past "the edge" this morning...

I saw it and it made me think of this thread...

Now home in rainy Brisbane... arhhh ;)

'Twas the biggest event they've ever had Col.

They remarked on well behaved everyone was too! > "Car enthusiasts beat drug users and drunks" is what I said.

You must have flown home? :D

    • Yeah the issue here is that we have a lot of topics, unless we matched on the exact word & phrase we'd get a million topics and the one you want will not likely be in the top 20 or so.
    • Yeah great idea, I have already added R32 Wiring Diagram but we can add as many as we want. 100% ! This has been something I've wanted to do for a while. I thought we could have a way for people to 'suggest' a link be added to the library when they come across something good.  We could kick this along by allowing members (maybe a subset) to tag threads they find to allow us to more easily find/locate/use good content, ie a tag 'for-library' which can then be added to the library and maybe have the tags reviewed and updated to better match the content. This would make it easier then to find the content when not using the library. We can also create pages that have lists of content with specific tags. That would allow us to add a tag and then have it automatically added to a page. We could have a page just for the 'for-library' content that we could then moderate and put wherever.  This excites me, the lack of structure with the amount of content is a little overwhelming.
    • Of course you can. That was a waste. Straight down one oil drain gallery and out the sump hole. Could at least have run the engine a little (obviously with at least minimum oil level on the stick).
    • Oh really? Maybe I'm being silly. I'll get some more shots. I had it higher but found that it went too high after a drive, I never knew this but exhausts can move around a bit when hot (makes sense, just never knew) and when it was higher it would make nice cooking plastic smells. That said, I could put some heat tape on a'la 90's R33 exhausts     Ha, I've spent a lot of my life in castle hill waiting for cars to be done. I think I'd prefer something closer but thanks D.
    • @Duncan Yes, changed filter every time. I don't have the service manual for the car yet (Car was imported and they removed everything when importing). I've been using the oil change threads in the forum as reference.   @Milkmun The second oil change was after ~4 months after the first months and I wasn't sure about reusing engine oil that was opened. The third oil change happened within 3 weeks of the second oil change and I used the previous leftover oil to just "clean up" the system. (Poured it through while the sump plug was open")
