My Car Runs Unlimted Boost... Help

Recommended Posts

hey yall having big problems with my car.

ok so whats happened is im sick of running a standar 7psi boost and want to run more. i have an r33 series gtst with a standard rb25 and standard t28 turbo. I have now tried three different boost controllers on the car... one being a dual stage turbo smart one and one being a cheap shitty bleed tap sort of thing. when ever i or someone else connects em up they will always run unlimted boost.. what do i do?

the wast gate actuatar seems to be fine because im running a steady 7psi without the boost controllers. checked all the vac lines and no leaks.

does anyone know whats happened? and how do i fix this?

please leave me some feedback of support.

chev.

Try this (if it works try introducing your cheap sh*tty bleed tap thing. If that now works then your boost controller should work if you connect it up right):

This is the 10 minute no cost boost to 0.5 bar rerouting of the vacuum hoses [thanks to SK]. Disconnect the two vacuum hoses from the solenoid. Then connect the boost feed (from the cross over pipe on the left of the picture) to the standard T piece. Connect one side of the T piece directly to the wastegate actuator (on the right of the picture). The remaining connection on the T piece goes back into the inlet via the BOV return pipe (on the standard fitting). Make sure to put the standard brass restrictor in that vacuum hose to bypass the desired amount back into the turbo inlet. The standard bypass hole of 1.25 mm bypasses enough air flow for 0.5 bar. (See photo)

PS: If you want more boost you can drill out the bypass, 1.5 mm = more boost (around 0.7 bar) 1.75mm = a bit more (around 1.0 bar).

did you connect the boost controller wrong way round?

+1, you're obviously not getting any plenum pressure to the wastegate actuator. Check out some of the boost controller install guides in the Tutorials/DIY section, then double check your install - there must be something misconnected. Post pictures of the tubes if you cant find it.

    • I'm a lifelong home drummer, was in a couple of bands as a teenager/early 20's then moved to Japan and didn't play at all until 2019 when my missus and I were invited to check out the band room upstairs at a restaurant cafe here in JP. They had a full acoustic drum kit and they let me have a bash for about 20 mins. I went away from there wondering how I could not play for 19 years.... Missus bought me a e-drum kit a few weeks later (Yamaha DTX402) which is basic but lets me play at home in my tiny Japanese house.  Also have an Epiphone Les Paul and little Vox amp and delay pedal I bought for the missus because she wanted to learn to play the guitar, but she never got into it. That was about 8 years ago. I taught myself to play some 80's U2 song riffs like the Fly solo, etc and some other things but being a drummer I don't really have the dexterity in the fingers lol. Ham fisted if you will. So I kind of just mess around with the guitar rather than try to seriously play complete songs. My son on the other hand inherited all my side of the family's musical talent and is a brilliant classical pianist at 16 years old. He'll go on to do something in the music industry here for sure once he finished his schooling. I got him a Yamaha NU1XA hybrid piano earlier this year.
    • If the BOV is plumbed in as mentioned, like stock.... why exactly would it stall? It'd be like stock. Do stock cars stall with stock bovs?
    • You mean a rich spike, as the air has been metered multiple times due to the turbulent air, you end up injecting more fuel causing a momentary dip in torque and quite possibly a stall event. TL;DR, install a Haltech Elite or S3 or R3, convert to DBW, throw all ancient shit into the bin and enjoy the car.
    • Can you pull logs of the actual idle fluctuations? The previous logs you posted didn't show any idle issues. Also if you can log idle duty cycle, idle state, injector duty cycle
