Hey SAU,

My 32 seems to missfire at high revs say about 3500 grand onwards on and off. . . I've looked at other topics but I've already changed allot of parts to try and fix the problem . .

I've installed new spark plugs (plat/iridium) and new coil packs ( super spark) and changed my air filter I've checked for boost leaks but cant find any. . and there isn't any water in the fuel tank I've even tried changing the pressure of the fuel with a sard FPR but yeah still nothing works . . i also thought to drop the boost but that made no difference either so I am dumb founded to what it could be . .

any help would be appreciated

cheers..

could be ignition module, or coilpack loom. or afm maybe...

those are probably all worth checking. probably one of the first 2 though

afm = air flow metre?

yeah ive checked the coil pack loom already but havent checked the ignition module yet i cant seem to find any anywhere :) . . ive even disconnected the sensor on the dump pipe cause apparently that sometimes causes it. but that made no difference. . the revs are really bad too it fluxuates around 200 to 600 revs . . i just had a play with it again then and i'm thinking it might be a vacuum leak somewhere i just cant find it  cause that'll explain the fluxauting id;e revs and when i try and boost it past 7 pound thats when it starts missfiring it has nothing to do with how many revs i give it :P

do you think i should just get rid of the stock intercooler and just redo it and put a front mount and change all my vacuum hoses?

check spark and fuel. Injectors had a clean anytime?

i had the injectors cleaned also when this started first occuring  and they passed flow testing also

List of full mods. Sounds like something is up

Why do you have a sard FPR? What ECU setup?

super spark coil packs

plat/iridium sparkies

3" cat back 5zigan exhaust

hks pod filter

had a boost T but just took it out to see if it made a diff but it didn't . .

sard FPR ( was gonna increase the flow when i put other mods in it so its just running standard flow )

f/r strut braces . .

boost gauge

thats about it its not really worked or anything

coil pack loom or the ignitor will be stuffed then by the sound of that.

And don't use iridi plugs - you've probably already fouled them again which isnt helping.

Use coppers.

oh true copper ones huh??

well i'll def put some new ones in then :P and try and source an igniter :ninja:

Well dont change them if they aren't stuffed - but my guess would probably be until you get the issues sorted out... then you'll keep fouling plugs and iridi's foul super easy.

So even if you fixed the issue, you'll have plugs that are stuffed and not helping/showing the same symptoms as before

did u say u changed the fuel filter?

if i was you, id drop into a local garage that has a scan tool, and get them to check for any sensor faults.(providing they have the correct adapters ect, on my r32 the adapter is just above the fuses in the cabin of the drivers side.mines a 14 pin connecter, but they also come in 16pin)

    • I'm normally copping my own abuse from neglecting my daily drivers. "Those suspension bushes will last a bit more", "Don't worry about the oil leak, just keep topping it up". The project cars I'm always doing things slowly on them as I'm wanting them to be done better, and neater, and nicer. Luckily I don't have to deal with 18 year old Matt's "Learning to wire" stuff in the project cars. And there's only one piece of wiring I'm displeased about in the Landcruiser, and it's about to be cut out... However, the box loads of parts that have been going through this place lately for the Landcruiser... Brake pads Brake Rotors Full handbrake overhaul Wheel Bearings Seals Swivel hubs Steering Boxes Half the suspension joints Shocks Air bags (Ones to go in the rear springs for towing) Water pump Timing kit Lower timing case Harmonic Balancer Radiator Lots of other little seals and shits Gas struts for the bonnet New power window switches And god knows what else I've forgotten... Ha ha ha I have my fingers crossed the pinion seals don't start leaking on the diffs, that the transfer case doesn't leak, and the gearbox input shaft doesn't leak, nor the rear main seal. As they're about the only seals I haven't replaced in the driveline! I'm seriously eyeing off buying new caliper rebuild kits front and rear brake calipers... I'll probably recheck all the valve clearances soon too, and hopefully, it should be all good and sweet to haul some long distance trips again!
    • Every time I pull my 3x gauges out of the console and see the crack-addict way that I did the wiring, and I just can't bring myself to tear it all apart and "make it nice", because it is currently working. In fact, the last time I was in there I probably made it worse.
    • The best part is when you own the car long enough that you look back and find your OWN ham fisted amateur shit!
    • The annoying part about neglect, is when you start to replace one thing, and find ten more broken things. Ham fisted monkey repairs you normally only find out about when trying to do something unrelated! Ha ha   Neglect you can kind of anticipate the huge costs to fix it all. Ham fistedness is normally a shock the first time your work on a new old car, as everything "looked" good before.
