get a timing light and check it

only way to be sure

+1 to this.

but that said, if the car has an aftermarket ecu and has been tuned like this then just leave it the way it is because the tune would've taken into account the extra base timing.

See I bought the car dead stock in October last year. The car had only been over here for a few months when I bought it. The car belonged to an Australian working as a teacher who was planning to move back here so he sent the car to Australia then never returned so his dad (who is living here) had to sell it. I've got all the service receipts and I think I have a receipt here from Nismo Japan for a timing belt change at 114,000km and when I bought the car it had 114,800km.

I took a guess at maybe the timing is advanced to high because it might of been tuned for Japanese higher RON petrol? But I am in no way mechanically minded so I've really got no idea.

he is planning on..

just wants to know if there is anything in the mean time he can do so that he doesnt kill his engine!

and as your are prob aware workshops arent open on sat, sun or public holiday monday!

dude.. an internet forum is not a substitute mechanical workshop.

take it to a mechanic, who knows they're way around a GTR.

J.

of course its ok to ask mate but he's so right.....take it to a workshop and get it checked too easy

when looking at the CAS front on, if you turn it clockwise, that is advance, the position its on looks to be fully retarded (lol)

Very true. Going to take it to a workshop Wednesday and see what they think
