Hi guys,

Unfortunately I have had an electronic failure within my car, I believe it was one of the Airflow meters, which has caused pistons 4,5 and 6 to lean out and die.

This is due to the fact that the standard computer runs the motor as two bank of 3 cylinders and each A/F meter controls one bank of 3 cylinders each.

Unfortunately I can't afford the rebuild and am looking at having a break from cars for a while.

I am the only owner this car has had in Australia since it's purchase in September last year. When I bought the car it was in completely standard and original condition. It has always been garaged and I have always taken great care of her.

New Front Bushes.

The car was dynoed recently on a Dyno Dynamics rear wheel drive dyno (Race Pace Motorsport) and achieved 240rwkw.

I ran it at Heathcote and managed an 11.57 @ 118mph down the quarter.

I still have all the original parts including Exhaust, Airbox etc. and would consider selling it in standard form if necessary. If bought as is you will get all the standard parts too.

If you are prepared to spend the money to rebuild the car properley, it will be very fast and reliable. I can put you in touch with a very reputable engine builder for this job.

I am looking for interest around the $29,500 mark, please ring me to discuss this if you are interested.

Any reasonable offer considered

Thanks,

Shaun.

I can't really afford the rebuild and would like a break from the car scene for a while.

If anyone is interested in the car, I can also source them a set of low kilometer, good condition HKS GT2530's at a good price.

These would be perfect to bolt to the side of a freshly built RB26.

Shaun.

Any offers??

I am flexible with the price.

I can organise a full rebuild with oversized pistons etc. for around the $4,000 to $5,000 mark. Once rebuilt you will end up with a very fast and very reliable car for a very reasonable price.

OK Guys,

Here's the deal. I am going to give it until next weekend to try and sell the car as it is.

If I still have had no luck by then, I will be putting a new motor in it and selling it as an 11 second GTR, running and complete.

For anyone that is looking at buying the car as it is, I can help them get it back up and running or you can take care of this your self.

I can suggest a couple of options for anyone who may be interested in the car but is unsure of the cost involved in getting it on the road again.

OPTION 1 (used engine):

I can get you in touch with someone who has a used RB26 in good condition for $5,000. You can put this motor in the car and then sell the damaged RB26 that comes out of it.

OPTION 2 (rebuilt engine):

I spoke with SUBZERO in Queensland and they will do a swap on the damaged RB26 for a freshly rebuilt RB26 for $5,500. The new engine is an R33 RB26 fully rebuilt with all new parts, including Racing Spec Rings and Bearings.

I am preppared to sell the car as it is with the damaged engine for $28,000 FIRM or I can take all the aftermarket parts off the car and return it to stock standard form and then I would want $25,000 FIRM.

Thanks,

Shaun.

(contact details in first post at start of thread)

Shaun,

Just a word of warning useing R33 engine in R32 GTR.

If only it was that easy, i thought oh year stuff all difference but even things like the heater return hoses have different sizes, not to mention the issues with power steer pumps etc.

Sure it can be done no worries, just may take a bit longer than you expect, best way is get an R33 long motor and bolt up all the accessorys off r32 motor and then i think its only 1 or 2 things that cause any problems.

E

Thanks for the advice Evan.

I spoke to Subzero about this and they also know of this. They actually use all my bits and piecs and bolt them all up to the R33 Block and Head.

Thanks,

Shaun.

    • Convert to dual filament bulb   FWIW, it will look odd - I dare say a bit dumb as it looks like your flasher relay has shit the bed.
    • If the RB20 box in the car is a push clutch, then yes, you will need to deal with the pull clutch on the turbo box. You either buy a pull clutch and don't use the old one, or you do the things needed to convert the turbo box's clutch arrangement over to push. Which is a bit of a f**karound. "Making" a custom tailshaft is the easy part. But you will need to source the front clip yoke - the bit that goes into the output of the gearbox. These are not as easy to find. They are out there, but they don't grow on trees the way that they used to.
    • Indicator bulbs are way too bright to use as a "corner marker" (we call them parking lights too). Sure. Go ahead and do it. But realise that you wil need to come up with all your own wiring to do it, as no-one will have a standard howto worked out for Skylines. It's just a matter of abandoning everything that Nissan have done and starting from scratch. You'd probably be better off retrofitting tailght/brakelight globe bases into the front indicator housings and using the taillight circuit for your corner marker and the brake light as the indicator. You'd need to work out how to kill the marker circuit while the indicator is flashing, otherwise it won't flash on-off, just bright-less bright.
    • Hi. A little bit of an update. It maybe(hope not) looks like i would need a new tranny(it would be "maybe" a cheaper or better option anyway) So i need some info. I know i need a different propshaft(i can make custom one) LSD is not a problem cuz the engine will be still(for now) N/A RB20. So if i buy RB25DET NEO tranny...is there something else i need? I read something about push/pull type but i do not know if i need to "change" something or i can just plug n play onto my engine a go? Thanks for the advice
    • Good morning all, Bit of a random question but figured I’d finally throw it out after wondering for a long while. Before I start, I'm hoping to do this purely out of personal preference. I think it would look better at night, and don't mind at all spending a few hours and dollars to get it done. I've copied this from a non-Skyline specific forum, so I apologize for the explanation of our headlight switch setup that we all know. Here we go: Zero lights (switch off) Parking lights (switch position 1) being a rectangular marker on the outside of the housing, my low beam being the projector in the centre (position 2), and a high beam triggered by my turn signal stalk. Most North American cars I’ve owned of this era have power to the amber corner (turning indicator) light as part of the first switch (parking lights). I’d love to have these amber corners receive power when the headlights and parking lights are on (headlight switch), yet still blink when using the turn signal which is of course a separate switch. Hopefully I’ve explained my question correctly. Is anyone aware of a way in which I might be able to achieve this? Thanks in advance
