040 has the mesh. its an internal only. whereas 044 is higher rated and can be used either internal or externally (tho in the casse of a 32 internally is a bitch)

if your trackin the car hard which it sounds like you are then get a surge tank. use the current intank pump to feed a surge tank and run an 044 externally.

so when i connect my pump up, do i need relays or anything? obviously the pump needs power and an earth..

i run power from the batter to a 12volt (?) amp, from the amp to the pump, then a earth from the pump to the chassis?

Need a relay, I run mine straight from the battery into the relay ( I used 2 relays for 2 pumps) than use the original wiring from the factory pump to trigger the relays.

otherwise the pump will be on all the time.

  • 1 month later...

ok so today i decided to rip my old rb25 bottom end apart (the one which had massive blowby and pissing oil out the rocker covers at the track)

only to find that the rings are perfect across all 6 pistons, cranks looks good...

any ideas why? was my old engine not stuffed?

See you still pulled 100psi on cyl 5, so it won't be as easy as spotting half a ring missing.

Yes they probably look fine, but pull the rings from no 5 piston and check them in bore 5, chances are it will be out of spec. I didn't read the entire thread but did you do a leak down as well when it was still together?

Also consider a Bosch 023 instead of an 040 if your going intank. The 023 is pretty much an intank version of the 044.

also herd that under boost the afm can break?

do they do map sensors for nistunes? that may be better!?

pull cut the afm housing in half so it can half clamp around the cooler pipe and drill a 20-22mm hole. Use sikaflex to glue it in place. Wont crack under boost and cant be recurved to suit via software.
