Hi guys, just need help in finding a replacement for a hose I split. In the thread attached it is the first hose that is suggested to be removed.

Keen to know what it does, and what it is made (really hard and unflexible) so I can get an adequate replacement.

Cheers

looks like rocker cover breather of some sort... just get a rubber hose suited to oil as i would imagine some oil would get in that hose.......mite be able to get away with some heater hose, but just check it doesnt split after a while....

heater hose should be alright. on my other car the oil hose that drains to the sump split and was pissingo out oil. it was a weekend i could not get my hands on oil application hose. so i used a heater hose... the shop was adament it wouldnt hold for long... 12 months later havent changed it! to hard to get to and hasnt leaked !

Yeah, Heater hose would probably do the trick.

the hose doesn't really see any large numbers for pressure or anything, but as mentioned it does get oil over time.

most heater hoses are rated to a decent pressure and are usually rather resilient to chemicals so it should be fine. i don't see the point in it being as solid as they are, maybe it's more of a result of the continuous heating and cooling of the engine.

My thoughts as well but the U shaped pipe next to it is flexible so yeah was a bit confused. Anyway thanks for the input guys, I will just stick with the heater hose and replace when/if I need too.

Cheers

hi all,

yeah that's one of your blow-by hoses, really common for these to go rock hard and split from heat cycling as suggested above. A replacement will cost you around $40 from a dealer so use whatever you can, heater hose etc will still last a while. The one you have that split is made from rubber just like the other u shaped hose you mentioned just severely deteriorated.
