Food, Beer, Talks, People, Cars, Beer and laughs!

These social meetings are divided into two parts, the first if your hungry is a meal from the bistro and a chance to have a chat with other members then the second is a short informal meeting.

We use these meetings to give quick rundowns on past events with video's, pictures and stories etc, to address pressing matters, tell members what's happening behind the scenes and for discussion on upcoming events. It's all pretty relaxed and fun. This is a great opportunity for those of you who don't know too many members to come down and mix as new faces are always welcomed.

Time - 8.00pm start, dinner from 6.30 ish

Date - Tuesday 22 June 2010

Location - Bell's Hotel, 157 Moray St, South Melbourne (Cnr Moray St & Coventry

St Melways Ref - 57, G1)

We will be UPSTAIRS

Note - This Pub is family friendly with an area set aside for us. There is plenty of seating (tables and chairs) and meals for all.

Who is welcome - Everyone!

MERCHANDISE

- Let me know if there is anything you would like me to bring along for you to look at.

Hope to see you all there.

:P

i realise this, but after looking through the event clender.... it a bit of a waste this year as theres nothing i would attend... :D

i like to cruise... my car is auto... not built for track, although it could if i threw a manual in, plenty of supporting mods.

You can apply online mate - you don't even need to leave the house :(

www.sauvic.com.au

Just follow the online application info there :(

Cruises only go up 6-8 weeks before they come around usually (and we shoot around an email etc)

We try our best to "forecast" those types of things but cruise dates often change 3-4 times before we settle on them and announce as we need several Committee members to attend etc for insurance/cruise management :D

Our next cruise is late July down to Arthurs Seat (which ill add into the Calendar later tonight :()

And once the weather warms up there will be more regular ones - winter is a bit harder as some events do require reasonable weather.

so basically your saying that the more minor cruises are not mentioned on the main calender? more on the private member forum?.

im still trying to get used 2 victorias car scene... its much smaller then what im used 2. i used 2 cruise almost every friday night and sunday up in nsw, weather permitting. :(

btw, i also know you.. sorta from r31skylineclub.. i used 2 own a passage GT which i sold 12 months ago to a guy in melb and bought a 33, my old housemate also owns SVD097 aka Jono on the 31 forums :D been to a few meets up in nsw.

No - There are hardly any "major" scheduled cruises. Even our 'flagship' Great Ocean Road cruise usually gets posted approx 8-9 weeks out from the date.

The date they get run is generally decided 6-8 weeks before the actual date, and are posted in the Member area & Calendar updated... also emails are sent out :(

It's just hard to get committee members to committt to something 2 months away as anything could happen... and should something happen if there are not enough going the cruise would have to be cancelled etc.

I like to make sure we have at least 2 Committee going if not more - just makes life much easier for us overall!

There are more informal meets in the general vic events area on during the week (carwash/mini cruises/food runs) with various groups as well - so not just club stuff as such.

haha ye i've been on a few of the NSW meets when I'm up in Syd :(

    • I should note too as I have all 4 wheel speed inputs to the emtron I now have the emtron controlling the attessa solenoid for 4wd/traction and launch control strategies.
    • It works quite well with the adjustibility within each of the programs of the turbolamik. Essentially p1 is drive and lockup comes on like a normal driver.  But in program 7 I have customised it to not request the lockup clutch to engage until something like 6500/7 when slip was the lowest.
    • Yep, I like that. The tags are only on the first post of a thread and we don't get huge numbers of new threads. Also, I plan to add some more report types and we could have a member report type like 'review tags' then members could flag if they thought a topic wasn't tagged correctly.  No way man, I dig the input. Thanks!
    • It's a valid thought. There's not exactly that functionality already (when creating a thread) - that's where the OP can use/create any tag they want. We'd have to come up with a way for the user to request their tags get reviewed or something. Otherwise the mods would have to review every new post's tags (for those that have them, anyway). There's kind of that functionality already exists to some extent, post facto of starting the thread, where the OP or any other user could report the post to admins, and request that tags get reviewed. We could do this already, and any user could already have made such a request. To make it a part of the forum proper, it would require an initial and an ongoing education programme, so that people know that it's a thing. OP based tagging/request for review would also require at least some (probably most) of the user base to be told that it's a thing they can do. Both of these things probably wouldn't spread too far and/or get used very much. If it was the standard approach on a lot of different sites, then it might do, because people would be used to it. Prank's approach to this differs from my original thought, by leaning into tagging. Which is fine - it's possibly better than what I originally suggested. In fact, I just went to the R32 GTR wiring diagram thread and added tags, including "Library". That's probably a good way to use tags and the idea of a library. We just have to drag together an (organised!) index of threads or posts that have that tag. I have yet to do any of my own follow up by pursuing worthy threads and posts and reporting/marking/tagging them for the library, such as the @Sydneykid stuff I was talking about, and possibly any amount of @Lithium 's and others' posts. At least if I tag them Library, we'll have a start.   Back to @Wazmond's idea as it relates to @PranK's, we might have some sort of a list of tags that are already used to scrape for this library. I'm not entirely sure how that would be presented or used, particularly if it got long. But it's yet another idea!   cheers
    • Just a thought, but instead of restricting, is it possible to do like an "up for review" kind of thing? Where say someone who's not an admin/mod tags, it would require approval for it to actually tag? User posts with a 'tag' > Admin/Mod Reviews > Approves tag > Tag now exists kinda thing? Just came across this thread so Im not too sure if Im straying off topic or not but forgive me if i am...
