heya

just wondering if anyone knew of a place where a 20yr old could go test drive a R34 GT-T? Should i even bother trying? Or am i just going to be knocked back anywhere i go? I have a feeling that no-one is going to let a P plater get behind the wheel of one, so just seeing if anyone knew of somewhere that i could? This isn't just a joy ride either, i'm 95% sure i'll start the whole importing process at the end of Feb, cos i'm going to be away for that month. So i want to see if the car is everything i think it is.

cheers.

Your welcome to take mine for a spin.At next bmt day or when im down melbs next.Has a few mods but you will get the idea you love 34's pretty quick.my car will be at bmt within next 2 weeks.i pm ya.One condition YOU bend YOU mend. Also has a twin plate so clutch is a little tricky for inexperienced drivers.

Easiest way to test drive any car is to rock up in a expensive car.

My mates dad has a new BMW 328 which he borrows all the time. Rock up to any car dealer in that and we used to get to test drive any car we wanted, execpt duttons, they wont let you unless you bring some paperwork showing u r loaded.

Definitely. When I had the NSX I used to go anywhere with that and could take whatever for a spin. No such thing as nothing to do on a Saturday back then! Infact the dealer that sold me my NSX used to ring me up when ever he got something new and cool in so I could take it for a spin. There should be more guys like him around sharing the fun!

So if you can borrow a good car off someone thats always the first step. But to make them aware of it I usually had to say that I was considering trading it in and would they give you a trade in vaue. Because you cant always park dramatically out the front right in sight of an unoccupied sales assistant so you may have to point it out to them... then attitudes change quickly.

snowman what NSX did u have? was it a 99? yellow?

unless everyone with NSXs and nice cars does it cause one of my mates friends used to do that all the time when he got bored before he sold the NSX :D

haha yeah thats him :D havent spoken to him for a while since i left there.

will have to have a bit of a catch up with him soon now hes married :(

oooo sorry for the hijack.

ummm yeah what they said... rock up in a masserati or something :D

Well when i was looking for my 33 about a year back now..the r34gtr was much more expensive one dealership had one..they were more than welcome to let me drive it as long as a gave them a $500 buck deposit which i would get back if i didnt want the car. A couple months ago i went into a nissan dealership and looking at a 350z dressed nice got all the info about it prices etc and eventually got a test drive at 20 years of age...pretty good..

I just told them i was gonna trade in my r33 and they let me drive 350z, and also coz i was 25 at the time

hmmmm gonna have to rock up in me dad's BMW E50? 530i, sounds like that should do the trick :D But don't like my chances of letting me drive it tho!! >:( - Oh well, might rock up with him in the car, and play the old daddy is going to be me a car line!

Now, gotta find a place that actually has them!

R34GTT-R - You're car sounds nuts, and thank you very much for the offer but twin plate clutch and modified.... :D Might be a bit beyond me at this stage. And BMT is a loooonnnngg way from my place, as far as i know. But hey, if we happen to be on the same cruise or something, i might take you up on the offer. I currently drive a 57kw front-wheel drive Pulsar :( So i'm slightly hesitant to take "someone elses" modified, twin plated R34 GT-T for a spin! Might just try and find me a stock as a rock at a yard somewhere. But thanks again for the offer, really appreciate it.

cheers.

You think bringing my ing savings maximiser statement along would help? I called it "Skyline Saver" - :)

EDIT: That's 57kw's at the FLY!! yeeeeeeeeee-haaaaaaa :)
