Hope this is the right spot for this.

From what I understand aftermarket steering wheels are illegal if they don't have an airbag fitted and came with one...

I am doing a little bit of work on the interior of my skyline and was thinking, how hard would it be to fit a steering wheel from a newer Nissan (was in an X-trail today of all things and was thinking it wasn't a bad looking wheel and that the plastic bits on there could be easily painted to colour match, so maybe something like that or similar) so that the look is updated while still keeping airbag functionality?

comments/thoughts/instructions/maybe even estimates on price please?

car I have is an R33 S2 gts-t

Cheers

depends on how crafty u r shud u need to modify it a/d also how many stages the bag has... most cars that are of that age tend to be single stage... newer cars tend to be dual stage... and require a lot of modification to work.. that said... never know.. maybe v35 or m35 might match up??? but yeah... can always roll with no airbag.. its a dumb idea esp if u hav insurance but if u want to do it then nobody will find out wat u did unless u crash

Well you only tend to need insurance when you crash Eps :)

On a more serious note considering the dificulty of changing it over I wouldnt bother with it, anythings possible its just a question of how much money you want to throw at it. If you want to spruce up your interior maybe consider a retrim, maybe some nice suede or leather, would be a hell of a lot cheaper than messing around with the steering wheel :D
