Found My Grail...... White Series 3 R33....... It Makes Me Happy.

Recommended Posts

So I'm pretty new on here so thought I'd say Hi, have to say that I've been able to get some great info from here and some members have been extremely helpful. And more importantly gotta say, I'm pleased as punch to be back into a GTR. Have gone 6 years since selling my last one and just couldn't go without one any longer. Searched long and hard as it had to be a White S3 R33 and it had to be in sensational condition.

Well found it, love it, and it sits in my garage for me to play with and look at. She's taken out for a blast through the mountains on the nice quiet Sundays and although I bought it to track, I almost feel it's too good to put it through that. But I will anyway. So the little GTI now has to live outside as the GTR takes the comfy spot beside the Gix in the garage..

So thought I'd share some pics since I found it so hard to find. They are around but not easy to find good ones I've discovered.

Here are some pics

Just Rb... found this by chance in Vic, almost gave up, figured I'd never find one that I'd be happy with. Was starting to look at 34s, but (and I must be the only one), I just couldn't get used to the look of them, just didn't look all of one piece to me, and I just love seeing fat 33 GTRs on the road.

cs, CF wing is indeed aftermarket.

I bought it with a mild tune and the bay looks stock standard although it has cam gears, GTSS turbos and a Power FC all good for about 300KW ATW.

Hardly had to do anything to it. Just cleaned it up and put the wheels on it really.

Congrats on the car mate, looks awesome, love the stance! I recently bought a Series 3 GTR as well, but in black. I was looking for ages too, I have very similar mods as yours as well, lovin the power. I bet you enjoy driving it around those mountain roads, it's friggin' awesome fun! I've been around Mount Baw Baw, Dandenongs, Marysville and Warburton, Great Ocean Road etc.

I find myself looking at Google Maps searching for some isolated twisty roads to hit on weekends. Thinking of taking it down to Tassie, some of those roads look amazing! Are you planing to do further work to it or keep it as is?

Amazing car you've got there, enjoy it!

Hell yeah, get down to tassie. There is a reason they have the Targa Tasmania there.

Iv been lucky enough to drive those roads many times, unlucky enough never to do it in a sports car- closest was as a passenger in my cousins 300kwatw HSV.

There's f*k all cops out there too...

Just be careful. Lots of shit to catch you out on those roads and lots of trees to make you pay for it. N it can be a long time till anybody will find you if it goes pear shaped..

Thats what I wanted to hear! I was checking out Google Street view on some of the roads around Tassie, man they looked sweet and no cops like you said! I'd definitely take it easy around some of them, or at least leave room for a margin of error. Hate to kill my pride and joy!

Just be careful at night, I was there for only 3 weeks and saw a *lot* of roadkill every morning.

During the day they're are great roads.

The roads between Queenstown and Strahan, or just heading into Queenstwon from further South was extremely twisty and fun...even though I wasn't driving a good car

Definately leave room for error!. My cousin wrote off his Celica GT4 turbo by not leaving any room for said error.

Oh, n watch out for black ice in winter!.

I took a trip there in winter one time and had lined up getting laid with an American chick on holidays there. I just had to go and pick up my gear from a mates house n then meet her at the hotel.

Lets just say i was driving 'briskly' and came into an intersection to take a right hand turn , i then hit black ice. A couple of 360's later and a venture onto the grass (luckily, not trees) i was back on my way with a uniquely tasmanian lesson learned- im from WA, 'black what?'.

Epic shag though, would have been worth wrapping a car for it :)

  • 2 months later...

Mostly correct, Enkei RPF1 in 18x10.5 with 15 offset.

The wheels are the only thing I've done to her since purchasing, apart from stripping the interior of all the Audio cables and making adjustments to everything so it's free of rattles. Oh made some small adjustments to the suspension also.

If only I had the money!

Awesome car man, I would kill for one of those in black (just like Bangaz Boy's car).

Almost everyone I know prefers 32's and 34's, but there's just something about 33's that I find so sexy. Would take a 33 GTR over any other GTR any day of the week.

I'm right there with ya Jezz... I went out looking at 34s in fact, cos I just thought it'd be nice to have a newer one, but driving it just felt exactly the same as the 33, and i just couldn't get used to the look of them, i can see the appeal but just too boxy for my liking. When I see any of the them on the road I love it, but when I'm behind a 33 looking at that fat arse...... whhooooo...... just love it, just looks so tough. And when they're sitting right, they just look fantastic.

    • This is a simple swap when you reuse the RB20 loom and auxiliaries. I run a standalone, but if I remember right, using the RB25 ecu you only have 2 injectors to inverse.  There are many DIY's on this subject online, including this forum.
    • Surprisingly the D6000 is only $1999, I'm waiting for the BF/CM sales, and hoping to get one cheaper. D4000 is well priced, still outperforms the 13" SVS PB-3000 and is like 1/2 the price at $1699 RRP. I do watch a fair amount of movies, and listen to EDM, jazz, symphonies, etc. so the lower notes from a subwoofer are always appreciated. The front 8" stage, just doesn't provide you with lively feeling, even though they are pretty bassy for a pair of large bookshelves. Then again, these days it's just playing Wiggles, Blippi and Ms Rachel, another reason the 3m wide cabinet exists, to hide all the audio gear behind it. They used to sit on a nice pair of stands, but as you know, they make good baby traps too.
    • Granted, which is a solid reason why I don't have one. My floorstanders are only -2 dB at 22 Hz.  So they're still working down to <20 Hz. Which is no doubt part of the reason why my receiver shits the bed! That Tonewinner would be about double the cost though, so it's not apples and apples. There aren't many AU$1300 subs (that you can buy prebuilt, I'm ignoring what can be achieved by DIYing) that compete.
    • -6dB at 22Hz isn't that great, watch the data from the D6000 from REW
    • I'll just leave this here. https://www.adelaidespeakers.com/subwoofers.html TL loading, big power. They sound awesome. This is what I would buy if I was going to try to take the bass away from my floorstanders. Just go with the 12".
