think north of $10k as a bare minimum to get it done properly. some spent $17-22k which is considered the norm for a well designed layout / install and tune.... e.g. APS kit

should have bought an R34 mate... :-) or M35 stagea... the turbos come 'free' in those... works out cheaper to swap

I already bought a v35. I love it. My folks helped me, and they thought R34's were too old. I'll buy one eventually...oh and a Ford Mustang with a blower...What? A guy can dream, can't he? I wonder if you could put a blower on a v35...with a hole in the hood, V35 Muscle/Tuner hybrid. Why oh why isn't there a pimp my ride in australia? Probably cause everything is banned in australia.

If there was, i'd just buy the body of a r34 and post a video to pimp my ride. Remake the whole thing. Fully sickness bro. More fuller then full.

Actually, come to think about it. I would buy the body of a nissan Gtr...I'll call up Jap World and ask.

Oh, btw...Brian from Just Cars...I don't have enough posts to reply to you yet, but you are f**king awesome!!! Peace

So, anyone else got anythoughts?

HKS does two kits, one is s/c and the other is tt kit... they're about $7-10k parts only ex japan not including install & tuning... if you can find someone to tune the supplied piggy back / replacement ECU.

APS have around $17k drive in drive out tt solution. Oh and if yours is 5sp auto you'll need have the auto rebuild

locally to withstand 500HP which is not included in APS' package. You see it will never be cheap to do FI on this car,

so best to leave it alone as N/A unless you are fully loaded with cash and got nothing better to do with them.

every country has their own different rule, unfortunately they can't just change the law for the sake of a bunch of 'pimp my ride' fans who felt left out. if you can't stand it, maybe take up a course/degree in teaching, and apply for an english teaching job in Japan and live there. car mod scene is more relaxed there... although they do still have 3-yearly road inspection called the 'shaken' which means they do still have some limits on how you modify your car before it's deemed unroadworthy and cannot be registered...

bye

When I was mucking around with mine I did consider a VQ30DET conversion. Decided to not go that way at the time, however, think it would be worth considering in future. Can pick up VQ30DET's for under $2000. Would have to look at sensor compatability......

Can't see why not given it is essentially the same block as the VQ. Aftermarket Engine management would be required but to purchase a VR you'd pay more than the market value of the V35 for a front cut

I was considering doing this to a v36.

I use my V35 for work and it works well because its a sedan w/ CVT and just a plain good ride.

The reason i was going to go for the 36 is cause its got more powahhh to start of with and id be getting the manual coupe. No really point in having two of the same car either.

Spoke to a few people and the general concensus is that you'd be looking at about 20k to get it done right.

This includes: the kit, ecu, exhaust, cant remember if they incl brakes, and proper tune.

To me this would be AWESOME!

Since I do use cars for work i can claims stuff of tax, so I'm going to chat to my accountant and see what we can and can't do.

But the way I see it, $60-70k for a car that would be very quick and fun, w/ the skyline name and tradition, without the stigma attached to the hotplates would be pretty cool.

and it would just be really different.

Which is always good.

Hope that helps!

Cheers,

Tony

    • Well, this is probably where a wiring diagram and a multimeter come into play.
    • I can say to anyone thats doing this; having done a number of R clusters; just be careful if its an unknown cluster.  It takes a bit of force to pull up; but if it feels excessive then its probably stuck. I've had this and pulled the entire hair spring out; and I can tell you; its not easy getting the correct spring replacement with the correct inner diameter and winding. In my case someone had used some sort of adhesive to stick it to the spindle and it pulled the whole spindle out; which the force seperated the hairspring from the spindal and caused it to deform.  You may have to clean it (IPA); or in my case if i'd known i should have used some sort of solvent on it.  Also check out Cruizin Central on eBay. He does all sorts of dials; and you can email him with any custom designs you want. So if you want like certain logos etc...he'll send you a mock of what it will look like then you accept the order and he'll take care of the rest. Fantastic dials and he can do basically any design you want.
    • Have you confirmed its the actual axles? Also the wheel bearings that mount on the hubs to hold the axles wear out. I replaced mine as they got play in them. It sorted my play issue.
    • Ive converted a few clusters for the R33 with 320km/h dials. On the back there are some pads which can be bridged or unbridged (using solder or wick braid) to calibrate it. There is one bridge which is for MPH <> KPH; and there are combinations of bridges to offset it. There is probably a diagram  For example; this is my conversion for a 180km/h dial to a 320km/h dial (I put custom GT-R dials on it with the GTS25t layout) If you have J2 soldered (assuming the S clusters have a similar config to the R clusters); you may need to remove that solder
    • Back on topic 😉, these are some of the notable pages from the booklets that are supplied with each weekly parts update. I never knew the BNR32 test mule car had an S13 Silvia front end... *Edit: On closer inspection the test car still had the R32 body, but only the front end had Silvia panels etc.
