Brake Squel comes from the pads not having right contact or temperture. or they get to low

I run dba 4000series slotted rotors on mine and they are terrific.

Only run cross drilled when going on the street but if your taking your car to a track stick with slotteds.

"[brake squeal] is caused when the pad “bounces” in a calliper and the squeal noise is resonance between the back plate and the piston" according to EBC

Which is why the shimming and grease/paste is important, but as you say the contact area can trigger the pad to piston vibration.
