s13-steve
Hey guys , Im steve, im back into the import scence after 2 years off - ive owned a few imports before and used to drift my old S13 down at waneroo raceway. Below is my new car which i have included specs and pics and am also seeking some advice with a few issues listed below... SII 1996 R33 Skyline GTS25T ~67,000kms Imported in December 2009, - C's Short Shifter - Pedders adjustable camber bushes - Greddy FMIC - Tein Superstreet Coilover suspension - Whiteline heavy duty front and rear swaybars - Apexi cold air induction - 3in Xforce TBE - Apexi Neo AFC - Greddy EBC - Work Emotion Charcol/Bronze 18in with centre caps - New 235/40's - Bosch fuel pump - Alpine DVD head unit - Original Nissan floor mats - Dark Tint - Autowatch alarm 278rwhp I am having a few problems that i'd like to get some advice on 1) Knocking/ clunking/ groaning/ creeking in front right and rear right wheels ( or that general area) when turning into a driveway, or parking up a kerb when i turn i get a strange groaning/ almost clunking from the front drivers side wheel / rear wheel area - what could this be? the coilovers are new so i was thinking some sort of bushes? 2) Doesn't boost smooth sometimes and doesnt feel as powerful as it should when boosting sometimes i get a moment of hesitation and then it boosts or even a slight jerking in 3rd gear one time. it also doesn't pull as hard as you'd think for the power it has it almost feels like its being "held back" especially at high revs il take it in to get serviced and retuned at all star garage this weekend 3) The car seems to have an auto turbo timer? is this a feature built into the apexi NEO or GREDDY EBC? how do i get the engine to turn off straight away if i need to? 4) does anyone know this car? all advice appreciated. Thanks, Steve Edited June 20, 2010 by s13-steve Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/325689-just-bought-an-r33-skyline-gts25t-pics-specs-and-help-needed/ Share on other sites
snozzle
looks like a nice car man, rip out that safc, buy a powerfc and that is problem 2 solved R&R on stock ecu is what your experiencing, search up about it problem 1 will be a process of elimation between your shocks and other suspension components, or even play in your hub/wheel bearing talk to an auto electrician regarding the turbo timer install, it mite be hidden away under the dash, i dont believe either of those devices can act as turbo timers nice car again, looks to be clean, i actually like the wheels, good offsets! Just_Rb
the autowatch alarms come with turbo timer option inbuilt depending on what model your best bet is to speak to an autowatch installer to explain how to turbo off or adjust the time of it the sound your hearing is most probably your tyre rubbing against the plastic inner guard when weight is transferred to one side under full lock Edited June 20, 2010 by Just_Rb Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/325689-just-bought-an-r33-skyline-gts25t-pics-specs-and-help-needed/#findComment-5303208 Share on other sites
syfon
I'm guessing, due to the offsets of the wheels, that it is simply the tyre/s rubbing on the guards when turning into a driveway etc. BTW, the offsets of those rims can get you a yellow sticker, so be careful. Other than that, nice R33. Levi_
The uneven power would be down to needing a retune, the AFC Neo is only a piggyback and it can only do so much. Only costs about $150 for a retune on a piggyback like that, so take it down to a workshop and they'll be able to help you out there. Knocking is probably the front arm bushes, there's one on each side (front tension arm I think it is) that is really common to wear, should be able to get a workshop to sort them out. Just have a look under there, it's easy to tell if they're leaking/split/worn. NISMOGTT
I would suggest as stated that your autowatch has the turbo timer built in... if you look at your buttons face on there should be 4 button 2 large at the top then 2 smaller under them... on mine i simply hit the smaller smooth (right) button twice to turn the car off instantly.. Thanks so much for all the replies! Im going to book the car in for a retune and service this saturday ( the last owner got the car serviced at Kmart Tyre and Auto last week lol) Hoping Allstar Garage or wherever i take it can also sought out the clunking/ groaning problem. Also NISMOGTT i tried what you said with the alarm and it worked! My other question is legally, if i got a yellow sticker would this car get over the pits fairly easily? syfon
It's difficult to determine if the car would pass pits fairly easily, however I can tell you, it would not pass pits with those rims as they sit wayyy outside the guards, so stockies would be needed for pits. Other than that make sure the car isn't too loud and simple things like not having all this shiny shyte in the engine bay as it just attracts unwanted attention. Sleepers are the best Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/325689-just-bought-an-r33-skyline-gts25t-pics-specs-and-help-needed/#findComment-5303531 Share on other sites
s13-steve
any idea what the car would do down the quarter mile? my old S13 only had 196rwhp but i still mananged to get a 13.8 out of her CA18FTW (S13 clearly lighter then r33 though) Edited June 21, 2010 by s13-steve Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/325689-just-bought-an-r33-skyline-gts25t-pics-specs-and-help-needed/#findComment-5303848 Share on other sites

s13-steve
Low-mid 13's with a good launch cheers mate, im looking forward to getting it out for a few runs. Only thing that will probably die is the clutch - i think it may be stock as it feels very light (previous owner was an international student and had no idea about the mods) Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/325689-just-bought-an-r33-skyline-gts25t-pics-specs-and-help-needed/#findComment-5303855 Share on other sites
