I called every insurance company including Famous, NRMA, AAMI, etc. and EVERYONE said "whats a Stagea?" I faxed them all details on the 260RS and they all said NO CHANCE, except Just Cars who put on about $5k in excesses if it was stolen or crashed. I also did not have a lockup garage so I could not get it...period. All the finance companies wanted a 20% deposit and were offering 13%p.a when the normal is under 8%. I also think $60k for the 260RS is a bit steep, it should be under $40k, but then a guy on this forum was trying to sell one for a $100k last year. Motorman imports have a 260RS (I think) that I was looking at and it is a really good example, although I am not sure if they have compliance.

If you want one get it, they are still the worlds fastest wagon under $100k, and nothing would make a HSV driver cry than being blown away by a wagon that looks like a ugly volvo.

Got my quote from JustCar, but this is on normal Auto RS Four, not 260 RS as I don't know how much they cost.

Vehicle Make/Model: 1997 Nissan Stagea RS Four Wagon

12 Months Comprehensive Cover: $1166

Agreed Value: $19000

Standard Excess: $450

Compulsory Excess: $700

Theft Excess: $700

260RS I reckon around the $40k-50k bracket? For comparison, I can insure an R33 GTR about $40k price for around $1300-1500 mark, but not sure for 260RS cos its a much rare vehicle in Australia.

I was pricing the car as $60k. I also faxed them the details for the car as they had not heard of this model, or anything about the Stagea.

I expect they would now offer a better deal now as there would be more of them on the road now. I did get the quote in Jan '04, so I guess things have changed.
