Guys listen to this story. One of my rims got slight damage on one of the spokes. It wasnt my fault it was a hit and run i the carpark which the guy was found. So my repairer tries to track down the rim which there is none and has been discontinued.

So the insurance co says we will pay you the amount for the last known price of the rim. Which we say is $xxx . I recieve the monies and try to get the rim repaired. I take to montan and may i take to custom whel repairer . Its chrome and cant be repaired. So i return to the insurance company.

Im not happy with the outcome for the moeny you gave me . Its not enough to replace the wheels and i can not buy just one rim. They come back with send us a few photos of your wheels and will we give you an evaluation. Im not sure what price they are going to come back with but i know i wont be happy with it . But i dont know what else to do.

Here is a few photos i sent them. Im thinking i can sell them and get more than what they are going to offer me .

What do you pimps thinking ?

Insurance companies are pricks. They'll only pay you for whatever wheel was damaged, rather than replacing the whole set. I've been through this before. I explained to them that its like somebody stealing one of your shoes, its no good being paid out the cost of half a pair of shoes, because you dont want to end up walking around on one nike shoe and one adidas shoe.

The best you can do IMO is inflate the cost of the wheels, but it might be too late now.

I would try to play it nice from now on. You've already accepted their offer and taken their money. I wonder if they're legally obliged to consider your claim any further?

Firstly, I would try an alternative wheel repairer: if it's just the chrome that's damaged and the structure of the wheel is fine, you should be able to find someone that can repair and rechrome the rim.

Your real problem lies with the fact that you have already settled the claim with the insurance company (you accepted their payout): it makes it extremely difficult to impossible to negotiate with them. I went through a similar situation with one of my cars, and it took months for us to reach an agreement: I had to threaten to take all of my business elsewhere. This was all done BEFORE a single payment was received.

Unfortunately, I don't fancy your chances of recouping anything further from them: your best bet is to shop around for a better repairer. It sucks, but that's insurance companies for you. Failing that, if you're unable to live with having a damaged rim (I wouldn't do it: I like my car to be perfect - I have a full set of spare GTR rims for the Stagea for exactly this reason)), perhaps consider selling your wheels as a damaged set and put the proceeds towards a new set of rims?

Well i got a reply today from the photos i sent to the insurance company. They said an assessor will evaulate the rims and i will be given a cash settlement amount. They have already given me $990 for the damaged rim so im not sure if they just times that by four or not.

If they give me $3,600 rough and take my wheels i dont think i can get wheels similar to the ones i have. The advan f15 are the newer model and are $1,500 each without tyres. If im not happy i might end up selling them. Just how much i dont know. I took them off the car on the weekend.

The fronts are 19 x 8.5 with offset 30 .

The rears are 19 x 9.5 with offset 30 .

first I've heard of an insurance company paying for a full set for 1 missing/damaged wheel.... definately an insurance company worth recommending.

as for selling...i don't think you will get much bites with just 3 pieces. but good luck anyway.

don't try an repair a wheel that's damaged on a spoke...it's dangerous and any "professional" company who is willing to do it, just make sure they warranty their work. I presonally wouldnt want to drive on wheels that has had repairs on a spoke.

The insurance company's name is lumley's. Honestly so far they have been helpful. The spoke wasnt damaged just a scratch otherwise brand new.

I might put them for sale and see what offers i get. They are a pretty stand out rim.

In regards to the insurance they sent me a quote today of $1800 for the total amount of the remaining 3 rims. A little less than what i was hoping for but again they didnt need to go out of their way to help me , so i leave it at that.

I used Lumley Special Vehicles for my Legnum: they were the cheapest of the "import friendly" insurance companies I could find for that car. Well done: it's a much better result than I would have expected! :D

Yeah guys im pretty happy with it. Im either thinking about getting them painted in a gun metal grey or selling them and getting the new ADVAN F15's pretty hot.

I still like the look of my wheels. I have some minor gutter rash might get that repaired and see how they look. If not yeah probably sell them. There is no structural damage just one of the spokes has about 2cm x 2cm shaved section.

$1500- you reckon Blistic ??

Any takers ???

    • from an old insurance company i was with (Budget Direct) I had someone roll back into me at the lights got them to pull over. Got a picture of thier licence with address, had a dash cam video and, thier phone number. But only had 3rd party on the shitbox i was driving. insurance did nothing, cops wouldn't do anything due to the value of the damage (under $3000) so i just had to suck it up and go to U Pull It.
    • Small Update on the Exhaust Situation A 200-cell cat was a bit too expensive for now, so I had the exhaust shop fabricate a new exhaust from the cat to the rear and an exhaust tip. I went this route to avoid cutting into the original exhaust and keep it intact. It’s essentially straight-piped, and the sound is noticeably different. The exhaust tip came with a silencer, so if it gets too loud, I can easily install it to tone things down slightly. Right now, the car bangs and pops like crazy -- which I personally love. In the future, I might add a resonator or a 200-cell cat, as niZmO_Man suggested, but for now, I’m really happy with how it turned out.
    • And that's a massive problem, because deadshits will deadshit and give you false details. At least in these days of mobile cameraphones, it is trivial to take photos of any ID they are carrying at the same time as the 300 photo extensive documentation of the state of the vehicles that I recommend even for minor incidents. And you get photos of the person's face, any visible tatoos, etc etc, while you're at it. Then you try to avoid mentioning that you're fully capable of making explosives of various power levels and will wreck their shit if you are forced to hunt them down.
    • No, I don't remember the exact reasoning (was 20 years ago!) but the cops didn't end up supplying it to us either. Actually my mother went through a similar thing recently where she was hit when stationary, flustered and didn't get address (she got plate details, name, phone and insurance company, but not address). Person who hit her blocked her number and their insurance company (naturally) would not provide any details. Her insurance company also required her to pay the at fault premium because she did not have the address, cops did not help as it is a minor civil matter (they said their only course was if the other driver had left the scene of the accident without providing any details). She only ended up getting that refunded because they happened to be insured with Suncorp and she was with APIA so same company owners. For some reason the address is critical in insurance companies recovering money from the at fault party
    • If you're driving something like an R32 through to R34, no chance of meeting Euro4. Euro4 came out in 2006, and car manufacturers back then were complaining how hard it would be to meet those regulations. Not a chance a vehicle 10 years earlier is going to be compliant.
