Not sure if this has been asked before, can't find anything by searching.. Link appreciated if i've missed it

Anyway.. I have a Singapore international license which is a full license, got it in 2008, and lived in Queensland last year so got me one of their licenses and they had no problem giving me a full license based on the fact my international one was full too. Considered changing to a NSW license but the RTA person I spoke to said I'd have to do my green P's, but if I just keep my other 2 licenses there shouldn't really be any problems.

However, I'm looking at getting an R33 GTS-t and as I've read, a Skyline is a magnet for police and they'll try get you for anything they can, so would anyone know or have any ideas on the situation I'd be in? As I do technically have 2 different full licenses, but under NSW law based on how long I've been driving for I should be on green P's. Any opinions??

I think you may have to be a citizen to be issued a licence?

Otherwise you can just use your Singaporean licence as a full licence no probs?

I'd call the rta to confirm...if i was you, i'd transfer the singapore licence to nsw as you did in qld so that you get a full licence guaranteed, and as you should.

That's the thing. QLD Transport didnt mind that at the time I had only gotten my full license 4 months beforehand because it was a full license. the RTA told me that it's all about the length of time I've had any license at all and if its under 3 years then i'll need green p's.

Hope my past experience will help...

I've shown my international license to cops a few times, the last time a cop asked if I were a citizen...I told him that I am a Permanent Resident and I got taken to court for driving without a valid license...

He told me if you're holding a student visa you will have no problems using your international license...

How long do you have until you can get your full license? My suggestion is to wait...cause I kinda did what you are trying to do here by transferring my license from Malaysia...but on that license it was showing that I have only had it for 2 years and 10 months (couldn't locate my expired license) as 3 years is what you need to qualify for full license, so I went straight to green P and was driving a FTO...I thought of going for my full after the 2 months have past but I waited for another year and just got it late last year...cause I really couldn't bother doing DQT...

Well when i was pulled over at an RBT (driving an outlander) i showed the queensland license and there wasn't a problem but the cop was real friendly as he was from the next suburb over from my old address there. I only got my full Singapore license in December '08 so I've got a while to go to get a NSW full license.. But all i'm on is a student visa, so should be ok? The only problem I've had with my Singapore one was that a cop in Queensland found it a bit dodgy for a white guy to have a Singaporean license, I can only assume he thought it could be a dodgy 'paid-for' license.

I think I'll just continue on using either license really as the RTA site seemed to say that as my visa is temporary the international license is fine..

EDIT: i'll still be here when I've held the license for 3 years so i guess if needs be i'll just do it then

U said u only got your FULL Singaporean on December 2008 aye? I dunno how the system works in Singapore but do you have like a P or something before your full license? cz If you do have driving experience on P's you can add that time on to your Singaporen full license, with that being said you maybe still qualified to convert that over to a full license in NSW and I m pretty sure about that :thumbsup: ...however you will need to find that license as a prove though...

My guess is that once you have obtained your Australia license, your international license would not be valid to be used in Australia anymore...but I do think you will be fine using your QLD full license and driving a turbo car...

In Singapore you go from L's - which you're only allowed to drive with a qualified instructor - straight to fulls once passing the test. It's not easy to get in Singapore, on your L's you have to go through about 36 modules on your L's with the instructor and just keep practicing with them after until THEY believe you're ready to do your test. Took me about 40 hours at $30/hour - not cheap. The only thing there is you're on probation for the first year (half points) and have to display a fluoro triangle in your car but with no restrictions (seen Ferrari's and Lamborghini's with these!).

So I've only had a license for a year and a half, but with 8 months previously on L's which wouldn't count here

      Hey all, not sure how active SAU is anymore but will ask away anyways. Just wanted to get some experience on the 2008 model GTR CBA model.  I've hit that age in my life (43) where I'm like fk it time to get my dream (midlife crisis) car. Looking at importing one in and seeing if these can be reliable if the main flaws are fixed up. Plan is to keep money aside to do the following straight off the bat to future proof it: * install a stage 1 rebuilt trans with all new bits and pieces.  * install a new Bellhousing from the later model GTRs. Or potentially an upgraded stronger version like MAD or ATR. Besides the above two things and typical maintenance items anything else you'd recommend doing.   Been speaking to a few people and the engine on these are very reliable apparently. But keen on the view of the community here. Hoping to find a nice grade 4.5 with low mileage in Grey. I'd go black but swirls too easy. Look forward to your responses and feedback. Cheers

      Do Alan and Keith work on Skylines now? I remember buying stuff from them when I owned my Ralliart Lancer a few moons ago. Definitely genuine guys and be excellent if they dealt with the skyline platform as well.

      Hey all, I'm Gaston from Sydney's West.  I was a member on here when I was a younger lad and owned a mint R33 GTS-T. Ended up selling it and getting married having kids (yadda yadda) we all know how the story goes. Now I'm back with the intention to get my midlife crisis (dream) car ... a R35 GTR.  You'll see me about asking questions and searching the forums. Good to be back and can't wait to get back an Import again.

      I have to put something here in order to post the photos. From what I could gather there's more enthusiasm for modified cars now than there has been for years. There were probably more younger people there than older (me included lol) which was a good sign.  It did seem like the record least amount of representation of the 90's era hero cars on display though. Like maybe one or two examples of S-chassis Nissans, and maybe 3 or 4 R-chassis. By comparison there were a lot of Civics from that era but in all there were about 10 - 12 EG/EK Civic Type R.  Euro exotics are always there in large numbers, led by Liberty Walk...... say what you will about kids using markers to scribble on a Ferrari F40, it did seem like a stunt to infuriate Ferrari enthusiasts, or Ferrari itself. I wonder if there's something more to it. Either way LBWK have done some heinous things to a Lamborghini Miura this time. They should stop now.

      Engines and drivelines are not war stoppers for me mate, busted arse bodies and un-obtainium parts and panels are though Both cheap Brumbies I looked at had trashed tubs and a fair bit of rust
