Some of you would realise that we are on the Alpha test program for Cobb Tuning, and as such we get input into and then early testing rights on their latest R35 GTR software releases. Well after some weeks and months of coding and testing, here it is, an early glimpse at the software that will eventually allow you to fully customise the launch control settings in your R35 GTR. Have LC1? Then Upgrade to LC2 or LC3. Want to go the other way? No problem!

There is also the facility to custom tune the Launch rpm and alter a multitude of temperature breaks in the transmission which in turn de-rate engine power with an ECM request :P

There are also handy features for the casual user such as being able to perform a live gear re-learn and also adjust full Clutch Capacity and Touch Points to alter shift timing and pressure application. This is a serious breakthrough for the R35 GTR community, make no mistake about it

Torque reduction is via various strategies depending on the severity. Normally timing retard, boost clip, throttle clip, depending on how it is requested. In the case of the TCM its normally via throttle in my experience (ie. limiting actual throttle angle versus requested)

Wonder if we will see some broken gearboxs once people start messing around with gearbox settings. I would think it could prove dangerous in the hands of the inexperianced. But will no doubt transform the car in the hands of people at the forefront (Martin). As it seems that the gearbox is what makes the standard GTR so good but is also seems to be the achelies heel of the more modified GTR's should be some interesting times ahead.

It will be great to see a R35 with 9krpm launch one day when (and if) OS Giken or Holinger will make gearbox components for the gr6

    • Well, turns out not a lot happened from back then to now, between life again, and working on 3 separate other cars (only one of which was mine, and will now be departing the household soon).   So I decided with the whole "don't go outside, it's a cyclone!" Turning in to being not a whole lot, I ventured down to the garage, found a couple of water leaks in the shed (the main one I've already fixed), and then ended up "stuck" as it started pouring rain, and I didn't want to walk back inside in the pouring rain. This meant I ended up taking a look at the Skyline, and trying to work out what past Matt had been upto. I retraced a few things out from scratch, added the rest of the power feeds in that I needed for the indicators, and headlights. Double checked I'd wired a few things up correctly (and worked out how I wired a few things to begin with), updated my sparse notes. Added one of the ground points. Oh, and got really really dusty, as the car is quite dirty. Wrote up quickly what should be left for me to do with the wiring too. Adding the below photos more for my records than anything else. I need to make myself a proper book for the car that details everything, and how I've done it, but for now, this is my records... The third image is my most important one for me, and I need to draw it out into a proper schematic eventually. The last photo is my re-written list, I'd have put it on the white board, except I had to take the white board down to fix one of the water leaks.
