Yes if you change anything from factory other than your 1 intake mod you will get reemed.

I had to take off everything. Zorst, ECU, Injectors, EBC, intake mods, BOV, etc.

And still if you only have 1 intake mod you will still prob get reemed. Its all up to the officers discretion.

The laws are basically there to wear you down to the point of giving up on modding cars completely.

Unfortunaltely this is due to the small amount of flogs that do the wrong thing and make it difficult for us all.

When i had my EPA cleared the bloke said it is just about illegal to drive Skylines, Silvia's and the like these days.

Anyway this is off topic, there are heaps of EPa Defect threads around. (probably with my rants all over them)

Be legal and you will be ok.

Whats the go if your pulled over for a mechanical or an EPA test and you got an aftermarket computer, a non standard turbo and a few of the other comon go fast mods onboard?

Are you flogged?

If the officer notices anything aftermarket that is prohibited by law or EPA regulations, he/she will most probably defect you on it and report you to the EPA. The consequence of which can be a nasty on-the-spot fine from the officer, but at the least you will need to return the vehicle to standard and get it tested/inspected, or face cancellation of registration.

mine "looks" stock!

On my point earlier though. i do, to a point agree with you birds. yet you were thinking along a different path to me. Yes theres more chance that you will get a random check and it sucks getting reamed with bullshite epas even if theres no actual proof and you need to fork out the cash to prove that your car is within the limits.. I can guarantee that my exhaust is no where near it. (changing that soon. im too old for the loud exhaust 24/7!)

Most people (inc police) get sucked into the crap that floats out of media. especially ACA TT. that unfortunately gives all imports a bad name. i can say that yes ive copped a lot of crap from police because of what i drive. yet as i stated in my 1st post, it doesnt matter what import your driving. theres no difference in owning a 32 33 or 34. Thats the only point im making here.

And as for the VT getting pulled over instead of me. If the VT drove off normally and the cop did decide to pull me over, i would have been fine with that. I would have been my usual friendly self and probably gotten away with nothing as i usually behave myself on the roads and im always polite to everyone. The fun stuff is reserved for Sandown

I can not believe you lot get pulled over so much.

6 months i've been here and i can count on one hand the amount of cop/cars i've seen f**k me id see at least 6 just going ten mins down the road in UK. But the i suppose its where you live and the times your out that makes the difference.

Same when I got my Skyline everyone moaning about how there were always getting pulled over for this that and the other. It almost stopped me getting one. But i drove it without EVER being pulled over for nearly 4 years. Thinking about it i have not been pulled over for coming on TEN years. (jinks that now) But then in the UK there more worried about weather you have MOT TAX and Insurance and they can check all that automatically with the NRCs with out a tug so only when it bleeps at them do they need to do anything.

Get whatever you want! Just make sure if you get one of the older ones you have the $$$ to maintain it... not that people really want to prepare for that when they are thinking of getting a GTR. But I love my R34 because there's 50 thou k's on the clock and I know it's never going to do anything unexpected.

What he said, be prepared to fork out lots for maintenance. Also remember to get a bargain one, because you'll need the extra cash, things break fast because of the age.

You can also get a well maintained one (lots of stuff replaced) but be prepared to pay a premium. Bigger turbos, and new suspension doesn't mean well maintained. What i mean is, no leaks, new slave/master cylinders, replaced bushings, mounts hoses etc.

if you buy one under 20k. Have another 10k for replacement parts.

I think even the 33's are becoming of age now, 34 would be a much safer investment.

Having said that, I love my R32 and haven't looked back since.

Shop smart :)
