hey guys/gals! like the title states i'm new to Sydney and Australia. I'm from California (los angeles) and as a former US resident i'm actually quite excited to have the option of getting into an R34 skyline of my own. I'm not very familiar with the car since there's so few on the roads of LA.

I'm looking for a 2-door, manual, turbo. From what i've seen just by browsing sale ads that's a rare combo. i hope i'm mistaken! Also are they all AWD or are there RWD versions? Are there any garages that will do work on them in town or will I have to ship the car to Japan for oil changes?

Ideally i'd like to get into an R34 but that could change since I've never driven any skylines before. Do you guys ever meet up for a drive through some twisty backroads? Ideally that's where I'd like to check out some good R34 specimens so I'll know what i'm getting into. thanks in advance for any info u guys can provide!

As Floyd said, 34GT-T, and yeah, there's plenty of places that do the work on them; as for oil changes, it's fairly similar to any car: can either do it at home or mechanic. There's plenty of performance workshops around who can do larger work if need be; there are a few that come heavily recommended by many users on this forum such as Unigroup, though I think Yavuz has a bit of a wait time because he's popular :bunny: (could be wrong though about the wait).

In regards to meetups: there's always something happening. If you've got a car already and are able to make it down the coast, there's a meetup this weekend, or failing that, there's a fair few events coming up.

Whereabouts in Sydney are you?

Thanks for the replies and specifying the model. I wasnt sure if such specs were even available.

well I just got into town a week ago so I dont have a car yet, so far i've got a bicycle to get around on :bunny: I'm doing my research now so when time comes to pick up an R34 GT-t I'll know exactly what I want. I'd love to make it out to the meetup this weekend but i would be bumming a ride if that's ok with any of you guys. I'm staying in the pott's point/kings cross suburbs at the moment though hopefully not for much longer.

Nah there's heaps of R34 GT-T's... don't stress. They are RWD. You definately don't have to ship the car to Japan for oil changes lol :bunny: any mechanic can do that - they're just a car!

If you can't get to a meet up, there are plenty of import car yards/workshops that should have some for sale on the lot.... you can check them out there.

Also, I'm not sure where you're planning on living, but insurance can be a killer, so if you're young and won't have secure garaging expect to pay LOTS.
