Here is the link to Pred's Removing Entire Dash thread which doesn't work from his original post.

And I also moved his dash removal photos to here:

Heater Unit removal

================

Follow this guide: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/sh...ead.php?t=31550 to remove your entire dash structure, leaving with what should look like this:

http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/at...achmentid=10054

Now, to remove the actual heater unit, mainly to replace if leaking. Aircon removal and fan removal would be similar process.

1. Remove bolts/screws as shown in first pic, and 2nd pic

2. Also stick your head under and remove nuts holding plastic unit to the firewall, in passenger footwell, and up near the steering wheel (3rd pic)

3. Remove bolts holding stereo/climate control button brackets to main support bar as shown in 1st pic

Any chance of getting the link to these guides active again?

I really need to change my heater core and while i've got the dash out may as well change the LED's to make it bright and shiny. My core dropped it guts over a year ago and winter sux without a heater! I've just had it bypassed ever since but would like to get it all fixed. If anyone has the link to pulling out the R34 dash and changing the heater unit that would be awesome, also anyone tell me the part number for the heater unit or where I can buy one?

Thanks for the great post anyway predator.

Dylan

Hmmm. I have the two holes inside my engine bay next to the firewall but they're not connected to anything. But i do have that large chunk of white plastic (maybe heater core inside) under my passanger glove box. Plus i don't have heater on my climate control. Turn the temp up doesn't wield any heat from the a/c. Does that mean i can rip the entire heater unit out and save some weight?

My country is equatorial so i'll never see winter anyways, just rain and damn hot sun.

Sounds like your heater is already bypassed, if you don't need a heater you can probably pull the core out, but it won't save you much weight, unless you're really serious about racing, but then yhou probably wouldn't have an air-con in it cause that would save you heaps mre weight and power.

if there is a pipe looped in the cooling systm near the holes in the firewall you were talking about, then your heater is bypassed.

Cheers

late rtesponse but - no the aircon wont work with the heater box removed.

the heater bos is also the area that channels the air into the different locations ... so it'll still blow cold air, but it wont be mounted onto anything and wont direct the air anywhere.

just half way through the full dash removal on my latest r33 now
