Hey guys,

Need some advice/info on how to merge existing paint with new paint without painting the whole part(ie entire door).

Bought some aerosol cans; I have my primer, paint to match and my clear coat all ready to go. I'm working on paint damage(paint peeled off), and it's smack in the middle of my door. There isn't any dent or rust, only the car paint & clear coat came off(primed surface was left). It's about an inch or two wide. I've already prep the surface and it's almost completely smooth, I sanded the area of the damage and half a cm or so outwards of that.

So, heres what I need to know:

How do I merge my car paint + clear coat with my current paint job?

Step by step instructions would be appreciated.

eg. "Spray past damage area with car paint by 1 cm, then spray past painted area with clear coat by 1 cm."

Thanks guys.

well, if your colour car is a metallic colour, good luck, no matter what you do you wont match it properly.

if its a normal colour, you would best go over 1cm to merge the colour, otherwise your going to have this circle of where youve sprayed, best way to do it is flicking the spray can from left to right to get a little bit of paint everywhere, so it evens out better.

with cans you wont ...under normal spray conditions you need to cut original paint back to its proper colour at least 150mm past any damaged and primer ,,,each coat must overlap the last one edge by about 25/30 mm but dont use heavy application ..when all is covered you then use colour thinners and i mean just coloured to blend in the edges on your last coat ,dont use heavy applications just a misty spray ,,when dry gentle cut to bring up shine ...most spray cans are not the same colour

Just thought id highlight that....cause its the most important bit... :)

I previously sprayed my D-wing in black..

Black is hard to get RIGHT!

Got it colour matched by Autobarn.

TIPS i found handy.

- Put the spray can in Hot water from the tap (not boiling water) for about 10mins prior spraying. this makes the paint easier to get out of those little spray nozzles.

- Shake the can for atleast 2 mins. swirling it around, upside down, side to side, up and down. (I masturbate a lot, so i was pretty good at it) JUST KIDDING!

- Practice on a bare metal surface, practice until you are confident to give it a go. I practiced atleast 5 times.

- Slow and steady wins the race, Prep work is your number ONE key to your final result. Good prep = Good Final Result.

- Spray according to the spray pattern of the nozzle, either Vertical or Horizontal. if it has a Vertical Spray patter, spray side to side. Some nozzles you can change.

- Get a 80% thinner plus base paint in a can. Autobarn can make this up for you too. Use that for a final coat.

- Once finished let it cure for atleast 24hrs before touching. Even if its a quick dry type paint. Then use a light cut and polish to bring up shine.

- If you have Orange Peel ( Little lumps like on an orange skin) you may need to use wet and dry paper, 1500 grit min...don't go lower. take your time with this, you don't want to paint it again. Also put some detergent in the water to let it glide easier.

Good Luck with it all.

No your not...

Masturbating on a bare metal surface, sounds painful, And no way you can do it 5 times, not in a row anyway

Yeah dont want to do it too hard and fast the end result is never as good, have your lube ready and all your favourite porn sites open, and dont forget the tissues, nothing worse than having nowhere to jizz

I know what you mean man, i wake up some mornings after a hard night out and spray all over the floor, sometimes it goes in 2 directions which is awkward, especially when your at someone elses house and it goes on your pants as well
