I use SEAL regular ... 3 coats and it lasted my sisters hyundai accent about 7 or 8 months - probably washing it once every 2 months and left outside in the open

it sheeted water very well, better than any other wax or sealant ive tried before and it was incredibly easy to apply :)

i also did it on my dads volvo and the protection is still there (this one is maintained a little better than the hyundai - but still probably only a wash every month or so) and its lasted a good 10 months at this stage i think? I did it in October last year .. that would make it 9 actually

and it still has that slick feel wub.gif

I tried it on my fathers VE caprice after a fresh detail and correction 50/50 boot and bonnet with jet seal 109 on the other half. I wash his car fortnightly foaming and hand washing. After this i found jetseal still on but not at its best after 5 months and the SEAL pretty much obsolete after 3.5 months.

At this stage i clayed the car and started over using the klasse combo and topped with Crystal Noir wax 3 coats.

Mitch

oh well im not too bothered what everyone wants to use, as long as ur not buying al cheapo stuff im sure its all good - some maybe better than others but the difference is prob not a huge deal

i just prefer buying all my stuff from FI for conveniences sake, havent really tried any other sealants but its doing a good job on my cars so im happy :)

i have 2 bottles of the FW1 stuff .. people bought it for me

dono wtf to do with it lol

ok, test started last 2008 and finished early 2009 - a few things

-FI Seal wasn't even out yet

-I've used a few of those products that finished at the end of the test and FI Seal lasted as long if not longer, so what does that mean? In the biggest test ever, Seal would have been there at the end?

-That test isn't a great one because he has applied sealants to all areas of the horse box, and different areas of the car/vehicle cop it more than others and the LSP in those areas will definitely deteriorate quicker than the rest. For a good test, you'd have to say divide up the bonnet and roof, would be an even test.

I fail to see how you could "STRONGLY" recommend against using a product that has shown on many occasion to perform just as well if not better than others out there. That's something you would say to someone asking if they should use Nu-wax or buy the FW1 cleaner from the servo.....

The application process is a little fiddly, making sure you give it the correct bonding time, check to see if it's sweating etc, but get that right and it's been better than any other sealant i've used.

I'll happily use what works best on my car, and have a bunch of non-FI products, but if i find the FI product to be just as good (in most cases better) then i'll switch.

Like Menzerna, i wouldn't use anything else, brilliant polishes but CAP range was better, so i switched.

Sorry to start an argument as i didnt want to but it seems as though you have a very close relation to Damian and FI?

I had previously stated FI wasnt tested in this.

If you read the whole thread he hardly drove the trailer it was sitting in the yard 90% of the time so it wouldnt effect different areas largely differnt

Maybe I'm wrong maybe i just dont know what I'm doing and other reputable detailers of which one is the most known exotic car detailer in Australia IMO agree that there are better sealants. If thats the case sorry, Have you used jetseal 109, opti-seal, opti-coat, gtechnique c1, cquartz, and the klasse combo? If so and you have found SEAL to be better then there must something your doing that many others are not.

Regards,

Mitch

I think we're all taking this too personally. But FI customers do develop a good relationship with Damian and Elise :) Their very helpful and all and give great customer service.

and i LOL at the test that was done that is a LOT of sealants hahahahaha poor guy

I've only ever used some TW Ice "polish" which is really a wax? Meguiars NXT tech wax, and some old old meguiars stuff my dad got a long time ago (it still works) and FI SEAL.

I find SEAL easy to use, seems to give my cars very good results and lasts more than long enough. I almost miss regularly applying wax but I find myself more busy these days (as you can see 2 months between washes on the hyundai)

I dont think ANYBODY has used enough sealants properly for an extended amount of time to say which is truly the best sealant in the world. Some people may just prefer what they use to other stuff

My workplace uses "Autosmart" brand detailing stuff ... imo fails. but hey its a job ..

Correct,

BAH autosmart YUK except for their tardis i use reguarly i LOVE it.

If you use foam guns or even for regular washing check out nerta its a great product also!

I still have a whole bottle of turtle wax ice wash from when i used off the shelf stuff :

Would like to change to other goodies but its a bit of a waste

Yeah autosmart is terrible stuff :( wash isnt v lubricating, polish .. doesnt really seem to do anything and is really a wax but doesnt provide any protection either? the window cleaning chemical may be good but we use rags to clean em :| takes me 20 minutes to do windows!

"g101" is basically the same as GPC by FI so thats alright and the acid for wheels is very effective .. but damn that hurts like hell in ur eyes or ur cuts

thankfully we use clay magic clay which is decent :)

Does perth have any "premium" detailers which really focus on doing a good job? I couldnt find any when i was trying to find somewhere to work at ...

Not that I know of.

Hi all,

Im going to get too involved in this as Damian & Elise are both friends of mine also.

Seal is a good product, it has ease of use and durability. If you are happy using it then that is great.

There are however some other sealant options out their there that can offer the same if not better durability and as well as giving more of wax wet look to the paint.

Some of the these include

Zaino Z2 Pro - Great for light coloured cars as it is optically pure, meaning their are no tinters in the product to alter the colour

Zaino Z5 Pro - Great for both Light & Dark coloured cars. Has slight tinters that will give a warmer look to paint.

Both the Zaino products above can be used with ZFX - an accelerator that speed up the bonding and curing times, allowing you to apply 3 coats of sealant in one day.

Wolfgang Deep Gloss Sealant 3.0 - This sealant will give you great durability however will give a much wetter look to you paint. Great for dark coloured Cars.

For the next step up in durability you get to CQuartz by CarPro. CQuartz applies a think layer of coating to your vehicle and improves the hardness of you paint to 7H (HARD), which reduces marring in you paint. IT can be used on paint, wheels, plastics, trim and glass. It will last up wards of 12 months. The look that if gives is hard to describe, it resembles a fresh coat of clear coat on your vehicle. It accentuates the curves, improves depth of the paint but at the same time will not dull any of the metallic. A little more fidelley to apply however the results are worth it for the way it makes washing your vehicle so easy.
