Hey guys i was at the driving sports event having a go a drifting last night and all went well but i now have 2 problems.

its an R33 RB25det

I fitted a 52mm alloy radiator and wasnt having an issue with cooling then i noticed it to get a little higher on the temp gauge then the previous runs so i did some grip laps and went in when i got back the front thermo has picked up somthing and jamed it and its stuffed.

same time my fuel guage rose and started to read full.... and pretty sure it dosent make its own fuel so i think somthing is broking or stuck

question

1. i bought a new thermo fan as i dont have a clutch fan (had a crack) 16" davies craig can i use the temp switch that the front thermo ran off or should i put a different one in? and run both off that?

2. what do i look for with the fuel gauge so it reads properly agian?

Thanks guys :)

correct me if im wrong, but the front thermo is almost a meltdown mode fan, kicks in at approx 103 degrees, ive never heard mine going in the 5 years ive had my 32.

many think its an a/c condensor which it isnt either.

maybe go back to clutch fan, no thermo can flow as much as that thing. :)

Thermostat = swap to nismo or other recomended brand, but also run a larger diamater water pump pully to reduce air crevation.

i was thinking of going back to a clutch fan but they are hard to get in good nick and nissan want a million dollars for one, and i dont know if it will fit with the new radiator :(

Will the Nismo thermostat make a difference? i didnt replace it (just did timing belt and water pump)

If i use the 16" thermo fan what temp do you guys think the switch should be? what is the normal operating temp?

Ryan, I have a similar thing with the fuel gauge in my 32. Absolutely NFI what is causing it, but I know it eventually goes back to reading correctly (then "making fuel" again). I say just put up with it.

leave the thermostat as is

long story, but sometimes fitting a higher temp thermostat can help an overheating engine :( seriously

pretty sure u can fit a VL viscous coupling and fan without any issues(burson), yes Nissan viscous coupling was outrageously expensive when i inquired.

Fuel gauge issue is new to me, sounds like a sender unit problem i guess, pull it out of the tank and try moving it by hand, see what it does then.

If it is just the fan that has cracked get a replacement and bolt it on the the fan coupling. Not that expensive. The clutch fan gives you the best cooling of the lot and is much more efficient than the thermo fans. To get good thermo fans that move as much air as the clutch fan will cost you a lot more.

I got a replacement from RHD japan. Nissan should be able to get the same thing out here.

OEM cooling fan

If the coupling is stuffed you can get that from them too

OEM fan coupling

so dont worry about fitting a nismo thermostat? not worth the money?

i'll see it there is enough room with the new radiator if there isnt do you think that the 16" davies will be enough? and what temp should i cut it in at?

Yeah the fuel guage just went up after a lap i spun out on, what dose the sender look like i havnt seen one before but i have changed the fuel pump so i know what to do as far as that, i hope it dosent stay like that forever!
