Hi SAU peeps,

Just thought I would share my freshly painted 33 GTR valve covers! It was a freezing day here in Melbourne, so had a few heat lamps going off in the shed keeping me warm and the paint.

3 coats of base (colour)

5 coats of clear

I stuffed up on the timing belt cover (minor run), I will blame the cold weather, not the fact that I tripped on the compressor hose and got a little to close . Will lightly rub the timing belt cover back next weekend and splash another few coats of colour and clear.

Jason

That looks sweet as!

I wanted to paint my covers that same color too!

So I assumed you paint stripped the black paint off then went ahead with the spray paint?

What type of paint did you use and what's the colour name?

Even tho' this deserves to be in the "Cosmetic" section, you've done a really great job on these Jason.

Well Done :P !

Wrong section, I see! Excuse me as I am new to SAU. Thanks mate, took me ages in this cold weather, but very happy with the result.

A few minor specs of dust particles, nothing major though!

Yeah I paint stripped them back to bare alloy, thoroughly cleaned them inside and out.

The paint is called Chrysler 'PHZ' Pearl Candy Apple Red. I do not have the paint code though. Quote this name and they should be able to make this up for you. Cost me $50 per 500ml and I didn't even use 250ml.

I wanted to acheive the R34 GTR cover colour, but could not find a paint code for this anywhere, so just went off my sight and this was the outcome. Think I guessed quite well.

Also the paint brand was HiChem.

Yeah awesome man!

Thanks for that.

The colour looks pretty close to the R34 GTR covers, which is what I like.

Welldone!

Looks friggin mad!

Cheers! Ha, everywhere I pull up, I pop the bonnet just to have a cigarette a look at it! It's a a good excuse to check my oil and water all the time!
