Well, I finally have a legitimate reason to convince myself to buy a Skyline. I was on the most dodgiest road I've ever driven on, the one from Geelong, that goes through Bacchus Marsh. It's all two lane rural highway, and there's always tons of trucks going up and down the road. I was going to a job interview and was being kept up by these slow-a** trucks. So I just thought to myself "pfft, this'd be a good time to have the Skyline"

I can finally justify spending 20K on a car that's gonna put my insurance premiums through the roof in one word... overtaking power!

I want my 'line ASAP, I'm sold :(

I just wanna know if people had similiar experiences, what made you decide to get a high performance car? (not necessarily skylines)

I had a 1985 magna, I still have it sitting in the front yard rusting away just to remind me never to buy a crappy grandma car again.

Plus if anything ever goes wrong with the 'line then I can always think that things could be a lot worse if i was still driving it.

Y did i buy the 'line? BECAUSE THEY F***ING ROCK!

I was out shopping for a twin turbo Supra, Had a test drive in the stock r33 4 door and said "I'll take this one " have absolutely no regrets, got to admit it was the first time I had actually looked at a Skyline. Current ride at the time was a '76 BMW 3.0L si. still have it if anyone wants it....make me a silly offer

I was 18 and wanted a VL, but i had to settle for a R31 coz my parents thought it was more sensible.

It was one of their biggest mistakes. The skyline bug caught me and 3 years later i got off my P's and bought my R32 a month later.

realised the company would pay for a car as part of my salary package. so figured why not buy one. two weeks later had a 96 gts-t r33 s2. i had no idea about skylines at all. didnt want to mod it because i thought i would never get used to the power. not the same car anymore :)

$49.95 :)

I bought my skyline after getting into imports in a big way with a mates S13. It had a CA18DE, then a SR20DET, then an RB20DET, then an RB25DET with a T04... Featured in Zoom 69.

The RB25 was by far the best motor of them all. Made over 250rwkw in the end.

I decided then that Skylines were Gods gift to the roads... I convinced Dad to buy an R34 GTR Vspec to fuel my fire for a while.

A few months later, my missus and I had another child and decided we needed a 4 door car... For around $20K, I couldn't think of a better performance oriented car on the market... Still can't to be honest.

And so a relationship was formed... :cuddle:

Till death do us part... :inlove:

Im sure after anyone test drives a r34 gtr they will be sold :)

I got sick of my old car (silvia) it was getting old and things stopped working and it was small, pain in the ass to have people in the back and im pretty tall 6"2 and i always felt squashed. I decided i wanted something newer, turbo and a bit bigger. Of course i love nissans so i couldnt go past the skyline.

when i my 12sec VXSS V8 keeped loosing traction on street tyers

so i imported  a N1 33 gtr with N1 34 gtr motor.

4 X 4 is your friend ;)

Jesus how much was that!

Basically, my r33 is the first car ive owned. Got it when i was 18

i had people left right and centre telling me get this .. get that.. get a bomb first etc etc

but i came to the conclusion (after many months and seeing how friends treat their cars) that if i got a shit car.. thats exacly how ide treat it

So in the end, i got something i loved and respected. And now i spend more money and time on it that i do on myself

I did have a gutter accident, which woke me up to the power im in control of or should i say 'not' in controll of

which has made my respect grow even more seeing how it feels to not be able to drive it,

its currently getting fixed and coming out 10x better than ever, not just visually i mite add :)

can i manipulate the question? good :) ... i will get a line because at first i liked the car (looking up pics on google lots...), but then i registered on SDU and SAU and learnt more and loved them lots and lots - go go sau ;)

I wanted a TX3 turbo 4WD... but couldn't find any good ones and also the insurance was heaps...

so a few years later i still had the performance car bug... i thought about what i could get (WRX/200SX etc) ... but then I saw a wine red R33 in Unique Cars and fell in love!

researched them for ages... realised if I imported one i could get it about 10K cheaper than the one in Unique Cars (which wasn't anything great, just a stockers R33!!). Imported one thru a Brissy broker soon after!

I thought owning a Skyline would make me cool in the eyes of others.

:P:D :D

lol

Nah, my mate's always been CRAZY about Skylines, and i was never that fussed.

Read up a bit one day (Speed Magazine article on tuning RB25), and saw some really nice examples, and decided, almost overnight, that i wanted a Series II R33. Looked around, found one that took my fancy, bought it a week later. Couldn't be happier.

    • He obviously had his reason for flipping you off. I wonder what it was...
    • Thats why I stay far, far away from Eastwood. only go there if I wanna eat Korean food
    • I have to agree like, yesterday, I was driving down the warringah freeway towards the bridge when this jackass driving a beaten up Honda civic cut me off so suddenly it made me almost yank the wheel to avoid him hitting my car. Honestly and he had the NERVE to flip me off (or some other gesture Idk). Im a calm guy, but really some people just dont deserve to have a license, let alone be allowed to drive on densely populated roads/highways. If youre gonna cut through lanes at least use the damn turn signal
    • HPA do an interesting video on tuning, and Adrian shows on the dyno, moving from 10:1 to 12:1 (And I think even 13:1) and the power moves SFA. However, a couple of degrees of timing has a HUGE impact. Exhaust side of things will more be the length of the exhaust and how many bends and turns you have. The straighter you can keep it, the better. By a lot. Oh, and getting the diameter right. Bigger isn't always better. Going to big can actually lose you power.
    • I have to say, most people I see on the road fit the bill of atrocious drivers. Whether they be cowboys in their dual cabs, bogans in the Commodores, or the soccer mums. Pretty much most people on the road put zero freaking thought into driving. Barely look further up the road then the end of their bonnet, and have never even thought about how catastrophically wrong shit can go, by doing what they all deem as normal driving. Especially their late braking, racing to stopped lights, and sitting half a foot off the bumper of the car in front at 110km/h. Wanna know what's even better? By the time their kids get to be old enough to learn to drive, they've already got in the back of their brain what is normal driving, how annoyed you're allowed to get at people etc, and then their parents who actually have zero freaking skill at driving (Even though they constantly say "I've been driving for 20 years and never had an accident!") teach the little twerps how to drive, or should I say, how to make a car move. Literally watched a parent teach their L Plater, on a 4 lane freeway, that you just slam the brakes on, and push your way over, even with a B Double bearing down on you, and that's how you should drive, rather then, just keep going to the next exit. Same shit happens all the time for side streets etc, watching numpties pull dumb shit turns pushing across 3 lanes of traffic, rather than just go up the road another 30 seconds, and take the next turn that'll get you to the same location... Oh, and the damn right lane bandits. Or the retards driving along with their headphones in, and can't hear the ambulance or fire truck right up their ass about to run them over...   Pretty much, people drive on the road, like ego centric f**ks, and don't actually think how dumb shit their driving is, how it could easily kill them or someone else in a split second, or at the very least, how they're driving is contributing to all the shit they're bitching about on the road, like shitty congestion!
