Hey all,

My dilemma at the moment is selecting turbos, well actually the price of them to be exact.

My main choices were the gt2860r-5's or the -7's, which for new I believe are about $2420+post (Kudos).

As far as power corresponding to each of these turbos go, I'd be more inclined to go the -7's for street-ability/response and I don't see myself requiring 300+kw in the future. (that can be saved for another car)

So I've found a private seller offering a set of -7's for ~$2k (said to be 1month old, claims to have receipts from horsepowerinabox - well, is getting the receipts sent to him because he misplaced his original ones). Currently they are installed on a car and will be removed in a few days, which I've requested photos for, to see the condition etc.

Now when It comes to a $2k purchase I tend to get a bit sketchy and also I'm not really a fan of buying used goods.

-would these be a good buy for nearly-new turbos? saving me a good 400 instantly?

-turbos are meant to last for a long time, so will the month of use be disregarded and treated as new turbos? (will the month of wear be anything to worry about?)

At the end of the day, I don't want to fork out $2k for a set of used items when I could have bought new ones for a bit more with ease of mind.

Thanks guys,

Yao

i think you fail at the search button!!!

and why would you choose the -7 over the -9????

if price is an issue, just save up some more money and do it propperly the first time? hell, if money is an issue full stop why are you upgrading turbos? I can remember who said it on here, if i did they would have been quoted, but the saying goes "the poor man pays twice"
