hey guys,

what time do you think my 260rwhp manual R33 Gts25t would do down the quarter mile?

It feels quite a bit slower then my 196rwhp S13 that did a 13.8 -

it doesn't really push you back in the seat as much as i would have thought for 260rwhp

yeah what pm-r33 said. i hopped out of my skyline putting out similar power to yours and into a s13 putting out about 200hp and the s13 felt quicker, but when you actually watched the speedo and took not of how fast it moved it wasn't quite as quick. also after i did a turbo install and tune on a mates 33 it was putting out 250kw and felt somewhat sedate to me, even though it scared him. i wanted to wind another 5psi into it.

that said, a mate of mine with 255hp got a 13.8. another mate of mine with about 270hp got a 13.6. and another mate with an rb25 in his ceffy with 285hp got a 13.2. a lot of it comes down to tyres and how you launch. my mate who did the 13.8 had 18's on, hadn't lowered typre pressures, was his first run to the strip and his first runs were mid to low 14's, while my mate who ran the 13.2 has done a fair bit of drag racing and used to have a mitsubishi sigma with a stock sr20 in it (stock turbo at 15psi, stock ecu, 3" exhaust and fmic putting out about 230hp) and on street slicks was running 12.5's at 107 or 110mph (can't remember) with 1.6 60ft

definately power delivery.

You wouldnt believe how different it makes things feel, and even betray the actual reality.

a 'peaky' 'powerband' delivery will make things feel so much faster, when in reality they are not.

Best example of this i can give of this going in my mates Corvette C6 ZO6 (one of only 2 in WA from knowlege).

You know that mental one with the 505hp 7 litre V8, which on topgear clarkson was able to take off from the line in 4th gear and go right to 170mph or so in that one gear!.

Well being a car capable of 0-100 in 3.8 and high 11's 1/4 mile i thought that i would be getting utterly slammed back in my seat and that the acceleration would feel insane. The fact is that it didnt. Dont get me wrong it was mental acceleration but i thought it would feel like more.

The reason it didnt was the power delivery. The 7 litre V8 delivered such liner power with so much torgue down low that just kept building as the revs increased. And because there wasnt any noticable powerband it never gave you that shocking smash of power as it hit its powerband. It was all powerband... :rofl2:

I rememeber him hammering redline in first gear n then 1/2 way thru second gear i thought- feels like we are doing just over a hundred now. I look across and see the speedo smashing past 155 to get to nearly 170 in second gear- all of which took roughly 6-7 seconds.

Its all about power delivery. Peaky power and having a powerband that noticably kicks in makes a car feel alot faster than it is...
