hello, i have a problem with my s1 r33 skyline. It has a pod filter, front mount intercooler and 3 inch cat back exhaust apart from that i think everything else is stock.

when i start driving in the mornings or when the engine is cold everything is fine, makes good power all the way to 7000 rpm but by the time the engine has got to normal operating temp it feels like its misfiring from 3000 to 5000, then is ok to 7000rpm. Even driving normally under light throttle it will feel like its misfiring as soon as the revs get close to 3000. It has new plugs gapped to 0.8 and brand new coils (superspark) and the injectors have been cleaned and tested.

would really appreciate any help or advice

OK first off, I'm going to ask wtf you're revving it to 7k when it's not up to temp?!

Then, I'm going to suggest igniter or coil harness, check with known good items. My temp. related misfire issues were due to the plastic inside the coil plugs deteriorating and falling apart.

So it is running the stock ECU?

With those same mods I struck the failsafe "rich and retard" that the stock ECU is programmed to run. Same symptoms were observed.

thanks for the tips. i pulled the coil harness out and one of the plugs fell apart in my hand so i need to repair or replace that item. any ideas where to buy the connectors or a complete harness???

That's exactly what happened to mine. I had an electronics mate I used to work with at the automotive R&D place try to track me down the plugs but to no avail :D

rhdjapan.com has complete harness

That's where I got mine from except I could only get an RB26 one at the time.

Justjap has them aswell, for all models it seems.

i found some connectors and repaired the wiring harness (n16 pulsar with the 1.8 litre motor has the exact same connerctors) but still no change. it has a stock ecu and is running stock boost so i am starting to lean towards a management issue. whats a cheapish way around the problem as i am planning on selling the car and don't want to spend mega bucks on something that im not going to use but i still want it to be fixed properly
