Hi All

I recently purchased a S1 factory Electric Sunroof with accesories second hand. Was wondering if anyone has fitted these or knows someone in Sydney who can do it cheap? I'm somewhat hesitant of attacking my roof with an angle grinder and jigsaw myself ;)

Thanks heaps

I really think you'll regret installing a sunroof. Even factory ones have a shocking habit of leaking after a while, even on some truly expensive cars.

The fact that you're retro-fitting it is even worse. Ask around people who have sunroofs as to what they think of them, and whether there's rust around them due to moisture pooling in the outside seals.

I know 4 people who have them, and only one of those isn't rusted/leaking, mainly because it's a 2008 model car, I suspect.

Thanks for the info guys. However i had a 1995 model a few years back with a factory one and had no troubles with it at all. My currnet car is only a weekender and won't be driven in the rain so it will only get wet when i wash it !! :) Have rung 2 places in Sydney today and they say they can't do it ?!?! Somewhat dissapointed thought it would be quite easy but apparently not. Anybody done this before or know anything about it? Would be greatly appreciated..

"Please HELP me find someone who can help in installing" Anybody ?

i think you will find that those places who say that they "can't do it" simply don't want to, as it is probably a pain of a job and if something goes wrong then your car will more than likely be a write off. also the fact that you aren't buying the sunroof off them will make them less inclined to say yes. this may also be why they say that they can't do it. their sunroof kits may come with a template of the exact size that needs to be cut out (or at least the measurements), so they simply mark it and cut it, and they don't actually have to calculate the size it needs to be, and i would guess that it needs to be pretty precise and the margin of error would be small. if you cut the hole too small you can make it bigger, but if you go too big to start with, you can't really fix that.
