Hi all,

Just got my R32 tinting done at SOL-ACE and the guy there took 3 1/2 hours to do it and said that it was the worst job he's ever had to do! Turns out the rear windscreen has some very very thick demister lines all over it and these lines are raised which cause severe bubbling of the tint.

He had to individually cut around each demister line by hand/knife!!!!!! And even so the job is great but not 100% perfect.

So, be warned. I winder about all of you who do have tinting done on the rear windscreen... whether or not you have air bubbles all over due to these thick demister lines?

I've had previous R33s done and they didn't have that problem... Sure, there was a little air around each demister line when first put on, but they evaporated out with the rest of the little bubbles within a week or so...

No need to cut each line on my car...

we had a tint-a-car day group thingy in melb a while back and there was a couple 32's being done. the only real problem that they had was that the rear window was an aquard shape and curved quite alot around the corners....no talk about the dimister lines. i think it took them about 45 mins to do the whole car too not 3 hrs so i think the guy that did your car has never done a 32 before urs.

im not too sure about cuttin each line individually....have u checked to see if he accidentaly slipped and cut through one of ur dimister lines...id be worried about that.

Don't the skylines use that as an arial too? (thus the reason for it being thick) MY 34 already had the tinting when i got it and it wasn't bubbled but it could be stuck closer. The guy who tinted my front windows reckoned they should have done what your guy did justinfox but I think it looks alright as it is.

i got my windows done in october. I have noticed on 32's that on each of the front windows there is a blemish for about 150mm near the top of the window pointing upwards (sort of diagonally). mine has it and it annoys me, but i am not sure if there is anything that can be done about it....

If they had to do that... then i would be severly worried about thier abilities.

The de-mister lines in all sky's 31-33 that we had on the tint day here in Vic.

Not a problem.

The only problem that there was, as (B1) MR_fanny said.

We had the tint day down here in Vic.

Just the R32's bottom right/left corners was the slight problem to put tint on.

but they still got it done easily.

And this was 12 months ago, no-one has had problems that i know of

OK well the demister lines on a 32 GT-R may be different to some other models as for sure they are very thick and raised.

I have just gone down and patted each line down and it's perfect now in most places. Just a few little spots where I can see a little bit of air around each demister line.

The guys did not charge me anymore. They did an amazing job on my Alfa last time... so I know they're good. And the boss there was very very distressed about this job on the Skyline. He wants me to come back in on Tuesday next week so they can have a good look at it, see if they can smooth it all out until it's perfect. He wants to see it perfect... gave me a discount in any case too... which was cool.

Personally I am happy with it. I would prefer these minor imperfections rather than having no tint at all on the rear. I do have a 10yr warranty on the tint so if ever something went wrong in future I could get them to re-do the rear window tint.

Group buy last time with the other SAU guys with tint-a-car. No problem with the one R32 that was there, and the R33s there all went thru fine. Hrm, maybe they are using a different film. Sounds bizarre that only the R32 GTR would have different thickness demister lines.

there's spec differences in R32's some have a heavier demister line, esp later model ones. I have the same problem with mine, which is why I'm looking at getting a precut tint from japan for my R32. (yes you can actually buy tinting for an R32 precut for a 2 door or 4 door over the counter and do it yourself)

I had a guy do my Surf and Soarer in 20%. I had the Soarer done about a year later and when he got it he said how big the rear demister lines were and they had a build up of crap on them too.. He also had to use 2 sheets on the rear window as he didnt have any tint wide enough.

Anyway, 6 months later and i still cant find the cut line he did, and its sticking down really well. He also replaced driver side tint for $15 when i totally fkd it putting in a new window reg.
