If the camera is taken out of the eye of the driver, the driver is out of the eye of the camera... :thumbsup:

These cameras are right on the side, and on some on the front of/rear of the vehicles, MEANING the car has to sit out in a spot where it can get line of site on the offending vehicle.

Hence, if it has line of site on you, you have line of site on it.

^^^ This can and should be understood by everyone - and it's obvious!

Police make statements to this effect before long weekends.

But there is just one flaw; and it is this...

People who drive east into work...

People (the same ones) who drive west back home from work...

Cannot see a camera facing them (even in full view) whilst the sun is coming up or going down respectively.

The Police know this. The RTA know this. This ploy will be exploited.

So all people who head into Sydney (for example) from the west each morning & go home in the afternoon, need to be very wary of keeping under/at the speed limit whilst going into the sun. At anytime, be wary sure... ;but when driving into the sun, the speedo watching, is with vigilance.

Agree with you 100% Terry. Just sucks, as again, because it's harder to see you've got reduced visibility, then you'll have people watching their speedos more than the road. It's kind of a lose-lose situation there; it's more watching out for all the other idiot drivers out there.

I've found before, that when I'm at these times of days, with the sun in my eyes, unable to see shit, the last thing you want to be doing is sitting on the speed limit because you can't see all that far in front of you anyway.

There's a spot I drive to from work, and at certain times of the year (Crossing from summer to winter and winter to summer) at 8:20 in the morning you come up a hill to have the sun in your eyes like you said.

Everyone does 40KM/H up it... It's an 80 zone...

i find when driving on a road if i glance down and see 100km/h generally if i stay at the same rev means it means have not sped up.. Funnily enough this technique works at all speeds on all other roads

Typically if i glance down and then accelerate i generally assume i have sped up

If I brake I assume I have slowed down

Well no it doesn't... Cause you can't glance down and see 100KM/H... :D

Also, yes this helps being able to glance at the gauge, and not (Like everyone in here seems to think) have to get an encyclopedia and then jump on google to find out what speed that needle is pointing at.

Also, not having a blaring sub going "doof doof doof" and not allowing you to hear road noise, engine noise, or the police sirens as the Ambulance is up your ass saying "GTFO OF MY WAY!!!"

And all that these would be doing anyway is taking over the job of that police officer.

work utes with canopys cameras in back driver in front working on laptop

they both had hazards on

i had no idea they were coming to QLD

Lets think about it for a minute...

They keep putting police cars in peoples driveways, hidden, and booking people right?

So that means, now that we're doing it with a camera on a car, suddenly you're going to get booked, for doing the same thing, on the same street, in the same place...

If you're not getting busted by the Po-Po now when they're hiding behind the bushes, you shouldn't be getting busted by the camera man hiding behind the bushes...

But considering all of the camera cars I've seen setup (Old, and new, NSW, ACT and QLD) they've never once been hidden behind trees or anything like HWP do, as they need more of a line of site...

Edit: Okay, so I'm going to try to make this clearer.

Think of it this way. I am going to remove every police officer thats hiding behind a tree with a radar gun that has to chase you down, with a police officer hiding behind a tree that just has to take your photo.

So, have you been done lately by any police officers with Radar guns? No. Then why would you suddenly get done by the one taking photos if they're at the same place, at the same time?

Or are you just annoyed now that they'll have a big white ford territory, with a sign at it saying "you're a moron if you just sped past me" and allowing police officers to now get on and do other police duties (Which every person on here bitches they should be doing rather then hiding behind a bush with a radat)

Again, if you're not speeding, you won't get caught :blink:

Also, food for thought, did you know that most cars already factor in a 2 - 4 % over read on the speedo? IE, when it says 100, you're really only doing 98 - 96KM/H?

My Jazz, speedo on 120KM/H, I'm really only doing 112KM/H... Hence, if I'm in a 110zone, sitting my speedo on 110, even if I do creep to 115 on the speedo, I"M STILL SAFE!

Yesterday I drove from Bowral to Canberra and back for work

on the way down I saw a hwy patrol, cop standing with radar gun, in a usual spot on the federal hwy

I then saw a hwy patrol pinning it northbound near eagle hawk obviously goin to book someone

then in Canberra I saw a mobile speed camera in a Vito van sitting in the middle of the medium strip plain as day

on my way home I saw an unmarked sitting in easy view at one of those cross over points in the medium strip, getting ppl as they sped through a roadwork section

then saw a hwy patrol pulling over a person heading southbound near goulburn

finally I saw a hwy patrol getting southbounders, he was hidden well back on the left hand side of the road getting people once they had passed him.

So I saw 6 cops and 4 different method of capturing speeders.

If you speed your going to get caught at some point

I also just came back from Melbourne and what i noticed down there was that 98% of the drivers travel at right on or just under the speed limit, I am assuming that this is because of the zero tollerence they have down there ( I found out about that the hard way) personally I found it easier to stick to the speed limit because everybody else was

A fair point, however consider this;

1. The new cameras will be able to catch and penalise more motorists than an equivalent Police Radar/Lidar operator setup in the same location. According to the RTA, the new cameras are capable of catching 6 drivers per second! That leaves a very small time frame for the device to detect vehicle speed, record the time, date and location and take a photo of the offending vehicle. No police operation could possibly operate in that time frame.

2. Police operators undergo training in order to be able to operate Radar/Lidar devices. There are rules and regulations which dictate how these devices must be used. I find it difficult to see how these cameras can be expected to operate effectively given that the operators are only required to park the car and set the camera up. These devices may produce an inaccurate speed reading if not setup correctly- any error could end up with an unfair infringement for the motorist.

It is revenue raising, plain and simple.

    • Photo of manifold showing gate location? I mean, it's 6Boost, so we probably shouldn't be worrying, but always wroth knowing what the layout is. Plumbed back to atmosphere? Or into the dump?
    • Yes correct. Also, I'd avoid applying it to soft paint (however I doubt you'll ever have to deal with it in practice). So any paint that hasn't fully hardened, could be a 1k paint that never fully hardened or it could be a 2k paint that was laid down thick and hasn't yet fully hardened. 
    • Bit of an update to this one. Having some issues on the dyno that held us back (boost spiking) and I want to pass some info over you guys and see what you think is wrong with my setup. The current readout on this dyno is 462rwkw on a low reading dyno so keep in mind it is a real world 500rwkw setup on a hub dyno. Don't read into the power figure too much as a sign of the issue. The short and curly of it is: 2.8 Litre Racepace build RB25 NEO N/A Head with VCT (internally standard however ) Borgwarner EFR 8474  Turbosmart 50mm Straight Gate + Mac valve 6Boost Manifold 4" dump to full 4" exhaust (nil restrictions) Wastegate plumbed back in and all angles in the exhaust system are acceptable and not too sharp. GFB SV52 BOV in cooler piping  Turbosmart BOV in EFR Housing   The issue we are having is it comes onto full boost for example at 4000rpm and spikes to 24/25psi, before dropping down to 17psi before slowly rising back up to the target boost of 23psi. It was extremely uncontrollable and the tuner actually had to ramp in boost progrssively with each 1000rpm on each boost setting we selected to try and reduce the amount of spiking. Sometimes we would see a drop of 10psi from the peak at the beginning of the run, to the low, until it took the next 500-1000rpm to stabilise back up to the target boost. The tuner is pretty confident that the straight gate is just a poorly designed product and leaks too much boost upon cracking the gate open and theres no way to fix it other than going to a poppet valve. He's also confient theres no ignition breakdown or floating valves. The fueling is extremely stable as well. Turbo speed is somewhere around the 109,000rpm area. The spanner in the works for me is that prior to this Borgwarner and StraightGate, the car was tuned on -5 twins at a diferent tuner, and he also had issues controlling the boost with it spiking around the same rpm range, so to me this sounds like the same issue and it can't be anything on the turbo side as this was all changed and I think the behaviour is extremely similar, if not the same. We also removed the mac valve and did a run on wastegate pressure and it still spiked and had the same behaviour. My thoughts on possibilities are: Boost Leak VCT Cam Gear isn't reliably activating consistently - (On this however, we did a run with the VCT disabled and the boost still spiked) Turbosmart BOV is not handling the boost? However this seems unlikely to not be able to handle 20psi. I have a couple of logs that I can't make sense of if anybody knows how to read them and can obtain further logs of other parameters if they are not enough, happy to pay for anyones time. The dyno readout with the power figure is the most recent last week. The other picture is from two weeks prior to that where we couldn't break 400kw (we removed the cat), however the issue of the boost control persisted. @Lithium @Piggaz @burn4005 @GTSBoy @discopotato03 I've tagged those that were quite active in recent pages here, no disrespect to those that know turbos well but I missed tagging.     • I recently purchased a 2018 Infiniti Q60, which has an SD card navigation map. I can see my system has options for real time traffic updates etc, and am wondering if there is something I can purchase to get this working? I can see there are at least updated maps for USA and Canada, but nothing for Australia. Surely Infiniti took changing road systems and city expansions into account when they decided to use an inbuilt navigation over Android Auto/Apple Car Play, or are we doomed to drive on streets that don't exist in the navigation system if you drive to a new area?
