Nightcrawler has suggested we do a private drag day, i.e. hire the AIR track. John (Munro) has given us the basic details, $3500 all up to hire the track including track preparation, timing equipment, officials, fire/ambo etc.

So, to start the ball rolling, who's keen to give it a go. We'll need a decent # of cars to keep the costs down, how many we can get, or have, in total I don't know?

We'll invite the LS1 guys, WRX, & a few others... To make sure we get a good turnout & a fun day.

I know there's a lot of info we still need to find out (dates, times, numbers, costs & so on..) but a show of hands is a start @ least!

One small point to remember! - As there is currently no street meets @ AIR (until @ least December!) the only other way to get a crack @ a genuine timeslip, is interstate! Well, AFAIK?

Bug's has offered to cook some scones & make tea for anyone @ whatever event we decide to have, jolly good show I say, mighty sporting of you ol' chap! :shake: :D:

I think you guys will get a shock when you find out how much quicker your cars are when you can actually get traction. It's great

taking off sideways with smoke beltching from the tyres but you wait till you check out the push in the back you'll get from hooking

up on a prepared track! Sure - you can hire the track out for $80 for the day(only one car on the track at a time) but no lights,no ambo, no insurance,no fire crew, dusty track(& I mean dusty!),no timing equipment = no value for me.I'd rather thrash in the hills where the road is not covered in gravel, dust,&crap.

If you want to have fun doing burnouts, fanging round the bowl, &

see what time your car can actually do down the Quarter Mile then a properly organised Track day will be very productive.

Numbers will not be a problem 'cause if we are short I know lots of comp cars that will come out. The only hitch with this is once all

the comp guys hear about it we will have too many cars and it wont be 'our' day.It costs $50 to race at a street drags(when there is one!) and you have to line up for ages. The whole point of this idea is that for a little more $ we can have a 'private' test & tune day where we set the agenda,do our own thing, & practice how to Drag Race without the pressure of thousands of people looking on.We can even have a burnout comp???

If it does'nt pan out it does'nt matter - but it would be fun would'nt it?

In the meantime - what about an Arvo Cruise in the hills?

GTRing, my favourite pastime.

:burnout:

I think the main diff between the $800 job and $3500 one to me is that with the latter we can walk away with printouts that tells our reaction time, sixty foot time, elapse time and mph/kmh.

It will be good to have prove on paper that our cars can do the times rather than just estimating that it can do so and so.

Ivan.

I'd be up for a few laps/drags. Any idea of dates? if we can make it later in the year (late spring?) we'd probably have more luck with weather, and get more people to come along.:burnout:

Just a quick note: this wouldn't effect the skyline guys, but I doubt some of the LS1 guys will be in for drags or laps. I've been informed that cars still under manufacturer warranty risk losing the warranty on their car if it raced in any way.

Bit of a bugger for peeps with new cars. I think JAFFA is giving the drag opportunity a miss for this reason. ;)

I reckon the day cruise through the victor hills would be a rocker

Still... a track day would be damn cool! :D

    • That's a short. Find the short. It will be somewhere between that fuse and the headlight. Start by removing the plugs from the back of the headlight and dimmer switches, and measure resistance to earth. Supply side (power from the fuse) should have none. The other side should have resistance compatible with whatever globe(s) is there (which is relatively easy to say for a normal globe, perhaps not as easy to say for LEDs). Anyway, if you have very low resistance, you defo have a short. Then you just have to run the wiring like you're running the bowel of a dog (on the operating table) that has swallowed something it wasn't supposed to.
    • Hey guys, need help figuring out why my driver side (RH) fuse 15amp keeps blowing. The Driver Sides Headlamp is out, i replaced these a long time ago with LED ones that were working for 1-2 years. Now, the driver side light is out and i traced it back to a broken fuse. I replaced the 15 amp fuse in the engine bay and as soon as i flip the headlight on, it blows the new fuse. Any idea what's going on?
    • I found the same with Subaru’s.  I own and love the SG9 Forester, after that model 2008+, Subaru threw the ugly stick at all their line up and somehow managed to make them look worse with every succeeding year.  lol
    • It's something we all have to consider as time marches on. Also consider lifted rally MX5 conversion at that point.
    • I should be fine for a few more years, whilst I do have arthritis I also exercise and do mobility training every day to keep as fit and healthy as I can, military life, which is the actual cause of most of my joint issues, has set daily regimes, which I weirdly enjoy I also train alot smarter now, not really focusing on lots strength or puffy muscles, I'm more focused on maintaining what I have for my future older self, I actually train as much mobility now as I do exercising Check out this "simple" drill I have been doing daily prior to training now for a while now, this has worked wonders in my all round mobility
