Hey guys,

recently read here: http://www.answerbag.com/q_view/774707 that when turning off our cars the tractor/rattle type sound is normal. Is that true?

Also in regards to running sounds, naturally the engine is not whisper quite there is slight tapping sounds from the injectors and lifters. Anyone ran injector and or lifter treatment? Or am i just too anal lol?!

no there should be no tractor rattle when turning off ur engine. It's a petrol v6 not a diesel dumptruck.

also there is a slight injector pulse/ticking, but it isn't audible from inside the car

I probably didnt describe the sound too well, but in reference to the link i posted an actual Infiniti tech said it is normal for 03-06 vehicles. Also in regards to the injectors, yes not audible from inside the car only when i pop the hood can you hear it and even then its nothing suspicious.

I had my friend pop the hood of his Audi S5, only 10,000kms on that baby and the ticking/pulsing from his was ridiculously loud. So much so that i have now given him a complex!

no cause of alarm then. if you can't hear it from inside then it's just injector pulsing

i can't hear the injectors over the normal engine idle on my car even with the bonnet open and standing a meter away

don't use any oil additive that suppose to reduce valve chatter...it will thicken ur oil and cause sluggish performance.

injector cleaners are fine....but i've used them a couple of times and had no real effect on engine performance or fuel consumption...kind of think its more a placebo effect

as for the rattle, that's specific for manuals only..even then not all manuals drives complain of that issue. ...auto boxes dont have that rattle.
