Hi,

Just wondering what would be the best Model, and Specs for a p plate driver, that would be affordable insurance wise.

willing to spend 7000-10000 I like r32's and r33's, would non turbo with no mods be affordable even possible for a P late driver to get insured?

hey mate being a p plater myself and having a 34 it really depends on what you like i myself imported from japan and i found that to work out the best for me.

but you just gottta find the right option for yourself. heres some pointers.

1. 32's NA are harder to find thats if your looking for a good one

2. 33's on the other hand are pretty much everywhere but most have been thrashed to no tommorrow and you will want to have a really good look at any you inspect.

3.both range from about 4000 up so well within the price range.

4. insurance really depends on your driving record. i.e. speeding fines, suspensions, accidents etc. you will probs be up for anywhere from 2500 up.

5.mods for both are quite cheap and in excess so no worries there.

6. also to find one in stock condition you will always pay more.

7. it really depends also how you want to do it up. and what styles your into. eg. if your into jdm, or low end rice spec then either is fine.. but if your one for sex spec (NOT ME) then a 33 is prob the way to go

finally when you do make a decision, post up and get some feedback before buying.

GOOD LUCK

Mate,

My advice would be if you really want a skyline is to get a good condition one and leave it alone no mods. Wait till you get your full licenses and then go buy a Turbo skyline. No offense to anyone on this forum but NA skylines are just a waste of time to modify. Also you are a P plate the second you start doing things like that your insurance will sky rocket.

Don't forget a skyline is a cop magnet and you being a P plate makes it worst. I had a friend which was driving a Subaru RX and it was non turbo because he was on his Ps. The cops pulled him over and said that he had a turbo in his car which he didn't. The cops said it because he modded the engine.

It just makes it chaos especially if you start modding. Stock is the best way to tell the cops to shove it up their back side hahaha!!!

Once you get you fulls get a turbo and go modding crazy. Your choice at the end its your car.

:) :) :merli: :merli:

That would be my advice.

cheers guys,

yeah i like r33's, ive know a guy who is a experienced machanic and will check any car out for me.

should work out well, just been getting online quotes for early non turbo 90's R33's around $2500, with no mods. I just want a nice sound system anyway while im on my p's

i dont want the cops constantly pulling me over.

    • Hey all, I'm sorry if this has been discussed before.  I have a 2008 Japanese import V36 coupe with nav but without Bose. I bought one of those AliExpress android screens, which for the most part works really well.  The only thing that doesn't work is the air con controls (well sort of) and the factory reverse camera.  The AC can be controlled fine but it doesn't report the change in temp and mode to the screen, and the volume knob/other audio controls from the panel don't register on the learning app.  I am pretty certain that the problem is the difference in the head unit between base model (Nav but no Bose) 2007-2009 coupes and anything after 2009.  Mine is the one with the blue connector all the way to the right as seen in this forum post:  The reason I think this is there is one wire left over that doesn't fit anywhere on this head unit, or in the factory screen which also uses different connectors to more recent versions.  I've seen the upgrade from OWC, and have sent the guy a message on eBay but no response yet.  I also don't particularly need the whole kit, just *maybe* an adapter for this one cable.  Did anyone else here have the same problem, or have any insight about what I can do to get this working?  I have been in contact with the seller but all they seem to be able to do is ask for more pictures and videos. Minor edit to add:  I have been researching and found a screen on Aliexpress that actually specifies my head unit in the listing, so these things do exist.  I will contact the seller to see if the wiring adapters are interchangeable with other screens.   Thanks in advance!
