Hey guys fitted a turbosmart boost to my 32 this arvo.

Car has a Hypergear hiflowed 33 turbo on it but even with the tee turned all the way down the cars hit 17-18 psi no matter what ive tried it just boosts to what ever it feels like. Also after the install as soon as its around 10-13psi it whistles really badly which im guess in a leak somewhere????

Any help would be awesome thanks

The turbosmart controller uses a ball and spring gated system that can cause boost spikes, its designed to bring on boost faster for more response. It says in the instruction manual that you can remove the gate system for more direct boost control.

Unscrew the nipple on the side leading to the boost source (i.e. the nipple that DOESN'T go to the wastegate, and piss off that ball and spring thingo.

Did the trick for my mate who I installed one for...

Or bin it and get the turbotech boost controller of ebay for about $30.

I borrowed my mates turbo smart manual boost controller (an older desing) and that had cronic boost spike (up to 15psi then back to 10psi)

ive brought the turotech boost controller and it is awsome. doesn't spike at all since ive had it and is very easy to use and you dont have to wind it mush to see a diffrence about 1/4 turn for 1psi.

would sugest it mate.

rb20s are bad for cracking ex manifolds... check for turbos cracks and the mailfold

mmm first i've heard of a R32 cast manifold being a soft spot on a RB20...

Infact i cannot even recall a post on this forum about anyone ever breaking one!

im over 6ft tall and have dropped one onto concrete at a wreckers when I was picking it up for a mate, didnt phase it....i think it is still on the car that is making ~300rwkws..that was 3 or so years ago....and no cracks
