ah OK, I'm a bit slow tonight :ninja:

me too. im not judging

im just saying due to his youth its been weighed against him worse than someone like myself

if i was to do the same offences, would i be penalized the same? i doubt it

then again, im the sort of person who would challenge a ruling just to be a bastard, i spend time doing that and time = money so meh

whatever

i have a word for the day and that word is poontang

that is all

Kye, some of these kids can't afford $5 - $10 each (group buy) taxi fare??......after spending $100 on alcohol??? Solution = drink less, your liver will thank you in the morning.

I know we've all done stupid shit when we were young and drinking was number one on the list come Friday, Saterday nights for some (I'd almost say most, lol)

I know that I never spent more then $20 on booze when I was young, yet I could get stupidly drunk (goon bags etc. lol i know, classy)

This in turn, leads me to what I've been saying forever, education is what we need. Just saying, "Don't do that, because........" wont fix anything unfortunetly.

Hopefully that makes sence cause I'm way too tired haha

The Scandy arguement is flawed.....just like I said to him, it doesn't matter whether the set age is 16 or 45, you'll always have the "day before, day after" scenario to contend with at any age.

The part I was trying to get across was the experience part, education!

Where just going to have older, unexperience people driving high powered cars. Dont care about the age really, just still going to be noobs driving fast cars.

You can still wrap yourself around a tree riding a scooter just as you can a Skyline.

I dunno

I class myself as one of the pig headed who doesnt listen to what other people say

I changed my attitude pretty damn quickly after getting done drink driving back in 2001.

Never ever driven with even a drop of booze since.

Thing is, it takes a kick in the arse to stop people from doing such things

And Im sad to say, sometimes the first time can be fatal

But there it is

Exactly Dohmar, it was education of some kind even if it was the hard way and now you've learnt.

If they had some gross pictures after drunk drivers crashed etc, shown to them at school or during training, movies even or whatever, if it changes the mentallity of just one person, it may have resulted in the life of 1 or more people.

If you didn't get caught drink driving, you may have done it again and may not have been so lucky the next time. Now that you were cought, you've been educated (the hard way, yes) your not doing it anymore.

Good on you for learning though mate.

well i should have known better in any case

in yr 12 we had a mate drag race some other dickhead, both were in high powered commies

they ended up hitting and one car flipped and ended up hitting a girl that was coming out of a fish n chip shop

needless to say, a harsh and very well remembered lesson, 15 years later...

Yeah you would be treated the same Ben - once you go "X" km over the speed limit it is immediate loss of license. Hard to argue with a speed camera. Sad fact is he was road testing his car on a tiny stretch of road after leaving a mechanical workshop to see if the problem persisted. Wrong place, wrong time.

i have no argument vs that, if i got pinged at a high speed i'd be rooted

my main argument pertains to the P1 and P2 applications, of which I thankfully are exempt from

UNLESS you lose your license, then you go back on your Ps .... we will see how they treat existing car owners .... but I guess it means even if they let you keep your car, if you were to ever sell/crash your car while on your Ps, you would not be allowed to buy/drive another turbo car.

Not sure what happens if a P platers car given to them by their parents, and is registered/insured in the parents' name. Will be interesting to see what happens when P platers get pulled over in turbo cars in that situation.

this is bs just because the car is v8 or turbo that doesnt stop people from doing stupid stuff in other cars EG. are they going to ban VN commodore's because thats more likely to go into a pole rather than a skyline

ugh.

bingo.

at the end of the day, i figured having my road test where i did (zero pedestrian traffic, and very rarely any vehicular traffic) was a pretty safe bet. my biggest mistake that day was not doing a 'dry run' like i normally would to scope for cameras and such. with that, instant dismissal for 6 months with no right to appeal.

as for my history, well, ive never been brainf**ked enough to even consider something anywhere near as stupid as driving intox'd, but ive received 1 red light fine for failing to stop at an amber, a cat 2 speeding fine, a cat 1 speeding fine, and a further cat 2 that i took on the chin for a mate. which earned me another 4 months on top of the initial 6. gonna start looking into my right to appeal that.

and yeah, end of the day, the way i see it, while they might grant me an exemption for already owning the vehicle, i sincerely doubt ill be permitted to buy another 'performance' car (my old celsior isnt my idea of performance) until i hit 25.

and its doubly unfortunate that my experience (advanced and hp john bowe days, + a couple private days) doesnt count for shit.

its made even worse for me because i learned recently that a bloke i know has lost his licence for the 2nd time in 5 years, all his offences have been cat 3's, hes appealing, and he'll be back on the road before hes even felt the effect of his lack of licence, same as last time.

dude drives like a moron, cant control his car in the wet or in an emergency to save his life, and has less regards for the rules than anyone ive ever met.

yeah... def seems fair to me.

Another reason the Police will use to pull over anyone that looks remotely under 25 for a defect.

I see the Media has done its work again.

Yeah its not a bad Idea, I worry about the governing of this, though

Over here when the law came out they add a restriction to the back of your license. For young drivers doing the right thing, if it's like our state, you won't get the restriction, it's only for new P platers after the law came out. Some friends a few years younger all had their P's and turbo cars. So in that effect, I'd assume you could buy a new car and still drive it since it's a license restriction in discussion.

Basically, it shouldn't affect any CURRENT P platers and, it doesn't matter if the car is yours, or given, lent, customer car, or a work car that your boss tells you to drive. It's against the law if the restrictions apply to you.

I wonder if they'll give the new P-platers a new coloured P-plate (like NSW) and only make them available to be bought from Motor Reg. That way they can tell the difference between someone who had their P's before September and people that didn't.

I drove like a suicidal maniac when I was 16-21 and I only owned front wheel drive econo-boxes then. If I'd have had a powerful car then like I have now (200rwkw) I'd be dead for sure, no question about it.

Even now after having 10+ years of driving experience with normal cars, 4WD's, motorbikes, trucks and now performance cars and being licenced and had extra training on each of these vehicles, the power of my car takes me by surprise sometimes, especially in the wet. The recent John Bowe Driver Training track day I did gave me a lot of respect for the car and upped my skills as a driver, but it also taught me that there's no way I want my son owning a car this powerful when he gets his license. In fact, I've just started doing up a Mini for him!

I'm with Sled here, I'd rather have my son alive and annoyed at me than dead and if these laws help then I'm all for it. I think it's a fantastic idea but I wish they'd have waited until I sold my R32....

read in today's paper they booked a 80yr old woman doing over 160 ks in a 100 zone guess she might be stuck with a mobility scooter for some time lol ........getting to happy hr at the bowling club must have meant a lot to her lol

I've just started doing up a Mini for him!

If its an early mini, I can't say that they're anywhere near safe... dash welded on in only two spots - front end accident = amputation of legs

    • Use a 2' length of hose (that's 2 foot, not 2 inches) as a stethoscope to localise the source of the ticking. From cam covers? From exhaust or turbo manifold gasket? From injectors? From lower down in the engine? Etc. Use a timing light to set the timing. Put Redline Lightweight Shockproof in the box. It's not the very best thing for the box, but it will take a box that refuses to engage a gear with other oil, and make it engage a gear. I had to put it in when I installed the R33 box I have in my car. It would not select ANY gear when running. Smurf jizz made it work. That was >10 years ago and I still use it. I'm stuck with it now. Failing that - rebuild the box.
    • Well done Duncan. The fuel tank bulkhead lid is also in great condition (some of mine were stuffed). These are now out of production and good ones like that are becoming hard to come by.

    • Howdy all,   I had my rb25det S2 rebuilt and finally started it today but have run into a few issues  Engine sounds like a a diesel easiest way to summarise like small ticking, gets louder when revs are slightly adjusted  The engine builder repainted the engine cover leaving no where for me to go off with lining up the CAS so have it as central as possible so not sure it that could be affecting it?, changed the gearbox fluid too but won’t seem to go into gear when running, and only 1 to 4 when off having a hard time finding 5th and reverse anyone got any ideas or a base for me to start off? much appreciated
