Bad Tune Caused This

can you guys tell whether or not a bad tune caused my pistons to turn out like this as ive seen other 2nd hand skyline pistons and they dont have the same markings as these?

any help much appreciated.

how much oil did you use out side of a normal service.

thats called not run in properly . or if it was an old engine

nothing to do with tune as long as the piston wasn't melted.

Hard to point the finger at a bad tune since you've had the motor.

Previous life of the motor could easily have contributed and it was "only a matter of time" type scenario once in your hands (ie, damage already done)

What does the head of the piston look like?

Head of piston is fine.

not blaming the tuner but just saying as i had 1 bad tune then had to take it another tuner to fix up tuner #1's sh*t tune.

Unfortunately those pistons are discoloured on all sides and all pistons. That is pure age mate. I understand what it's like to want to find answers when it comes to engine failures but you can see by the burn on the ring land and down the skirt that it has been happening for quite a while. That's carbon baked in.

need better pics, ie off bearing shells, close up of oil ring (via jewelers eyeglass to check for dusting) close up of damaged piston, bore pics and piston skirt pics.

i am not blaming the tune/tuner but a few ppl did say the car was running lean hence the funny colours on the piston but Elite Racing has cleared that up, cheers mate

14psi on DE+T with track days/skidpans, the car did well

Tune could have pushed it over the edge but it looks like it has just had a very hard life. How many kms were on the motor?
