My Dad is starting a business and he needs the garage and seeing as I have lost interest I've decided it needs to go.

Its a complete 1989 R32 GTR, it has been registered in the past so it can be registered again. It has approx 100 000 kms on the clock.

Its in reasonable condition, it has a spot of surface rust above the rear window and a dint on the rhs rear quarter. It also needs the wing repainted.

The engine is in need of a rebuild. The problem with the engine was the head (engine overheated) which was replaced with a brand new one.

What I have done so far:

I have cleaned the engine bay up

rebuilt the front drive shafts

new bearings in the front hubs

blocked off the lines to the heater box and removed them as I planned not to use them.

Rebuilt the steering rack with new seals

Simplified the clutch lines (got rid of that junction block thing) and make a billet piece to replace the clutch booster

rebuilt the clutch and brake master cylinders

Ran a line to the boot for a boot mounted battery

Rebuilt the gearbox with new synchros and bearings. Has a used but in excellent condition OS Giken gearset in it.

What needs doing:

Engine needs a rebuild. It comes with:

new timing belt

new radiator hoses

new Fidanza Adjustable timing gears

New Nissan headgasket

Used Cometic (I think) headgasket

Camshaft oil seals

Camshafts ground to Tomei Pon Camshaft specs 256/256 9.15mm lift plus the standard cams

New Eagle rods plus the standard ones

Standard pistons

various gaskets etc

New Siemens 700cc injectors

Other parts:

Turbos are R34 N1 turbos in excellent condition.

4" stainless exhaust with 3" pipes from the dump pipes (needs fitting to the car as it has no hangers)

used stainless exhaust manifolds

PWR radiator along with the standard one

Baffled and enlarged sump

Quaife front diff

Ohlins shocks, basic ones in need of a rebuild.

Speedline 17" x 9" wheels

New front and rear rotors

Apexi Power FC Pro with the Apexi boost control kit

New Z32 afms x2

I'm not looking at parting it out at this stage, I'm hoping to sell it to someone who wants to build a fast track car as there are some good bits here.

Price: $15 000

Pics will be up tomorrow, I will update the details in case I have forgotten anything

Im located in Quakers Hill, Sydney, NSW

    • My fob has never worked, I once attempted to follow the procedure to re-key it, (I have other fobs for the car alarm thing in there). I actually have three of them. Do aftermarket alarms take over the pairing mechanism for central locking? Or do they piggyback off it? I suppose it depends on the system, right? I have four sets of keys/keyfobs. One definitely works, one I think works, one definitely doesn't work, and I have the OEM one that has never worked :p. Is this fixable/workable/whatever? I mean I know it's beyond "just clean it" but how *do* they get synced up?
    • It's actually a really weird comparison... the MX5 is on another level and I kinda question this comparison at all. It'd be closer to compare it to a GTI/Golf/Hatch anything that kicks around. NC MX5 with a turbo has the right to go up with and beat the FD RX7 or 180SX or any other JDM hero car. That's the comparison that would really ruffle feathers.
    • @MBS206 you need more shed in your life... What sort of car is your mates race car?  Hopefully he returns the favour when you're ready to get cracking on yours! None of my mates are into cars so I don't have to worry about that as a distraction thankfully.  I have enough other distractions so I don't need that one too!  Between working 6 days a week (5 1/2 really so 55 hours or so per week), both kids have basketball almost every week night (including Friday night in Melbourne - 2 hours away), my daughter plays netball as well, my sons footy has started now and I coach his under 14's side as well as I'm on the Footy club committee this year, I ride motorbikes every spare Sunday I can find, plus trying to be some sort of a husband.  Life is a busy little exercise at the moment!  I wish there were 8 or 9 days in a week sometimes!
    • Ha ha, that is very true!  I'm too scared to leave it in the position though, it tingles my balls seeing it like that!
    • Which one did you buy? I have always wanted a decent inspection camera but have been unable to tell whether something is cheap junk or cheap junk chunk sold at just a bigger markup
