Haha, Mat doesnt own a D3s!?!! Pretty sure he has a D90.

And i have a 50D (soon to be 7D or 1DIII or 5DmkII...SO HARD TO CHOOSE!!! WANT 'EM ALL!).

Barra - That example at 1.4 is WAY too soft. That is a terrible indicator for a test sheet as well.

Go here, print it out. It is recommended to be done at 45 degrees, actually, just follow the instructions. I've used it, seems to work well, but i prefer fine tuning in the real world because different focal lengths at different distances = different adjustment. Got to find that balance. But, as you have a prime, this should work fine!

REMEMBER - 1.4 WILL ALWAYS BE A TINY BIT SOFT. Try stopping down to 1.8 or f/2.

I recommend live view and zoom in to 10x and microadjust from there.

Good luck and post up results.

What kind of camera do you have? IF you don't hve a camera with microfocus adjustment, then this chart won't help you.

All the charts on the interwebz are meant for cameras with microadjust.

Basically i dont know the technically terms and nor do i care what they are, but if your lens focuses more in front, you go to your cameras microadjustment menu and you dial in front or back. Which in laymans terms means: Move focus forward or backwards.

I'm sure Zennon on here will have technical terms :D

Yo. I'm shooting with a D90! I just threw that pic up cos it was one of the first that popped up when i typed nikon in and I was in a hurry

My wireless flash transmitter/receivers arrived today. Had a quick bash tonight. I'm very impressed with how much they help out  Got some el cheapo's to test out. Build quality is pretty shite but they work. I think they're line of sight though. Will do some more testing later. Here's a couple from first night. I might even clean the car soon

Good work, Matboy!

Here's another shot from the day at Linnwood House's Open Day a few weeks back. The day was pretty badly organised, so I was in a bit of an ordinary mood and lost a fair bit of inspiration. Also, seeing as there were quite a lot of people and so many trees around (and I'm still a newb at Photoshop, so cloning them out would take me a fair chunk of time with questionable results), some of the nicer cars on the day could have been better captured if I was in a better frame of mind. Meh.

Oh, I managed to catch this on the same day, actually! I was walking around with my sister when this little ladybug landed on her hand. I fired off a quick shot, and while I was still looking thru the eyepiece of the camera, I saw it open its wings and fly away - I really wish I'd caught it in the act!

I think they're cheap knock off of the cactus. look similar. Some china copy called 'iSHOOT'. Wow, let's stick an I in front of everything and make it cool!!!!!!!!!!!!!! call me iMatt from now on.

Build quality is quite bad. I'd hate to drop them more than a few times. They'll work til the house is finished and I can get some decent ones, who knows, maybe they're sturdier than they look.

p.s. I love strobes :nyaanyaa:

Nice shot there Nick! the only thing you'd clone out would be the chairs, and you've got some grass next to them. Put the car on a different layer (I'm assuming it already is) if you don't like the clone you can cut that strip of grass, and paste a few of it over the chairs, maybe tranform the one that youd' need to join the 3 or 4 to help it look natural, and over lap them, and rub out the edges of one part to about 1/3rd opacity. Or you could just try cloning, almost the same thing and easier.

:)

Yeah know what you are talking about but don't know what's its called.

D40 wont have it - my D80 doesn't even have it.

    • So I've been working on the car a fair bit, doing a lot of little things.  Still making slight adjustments to my tune, as the cold weather settles in. I've also had to start dropping boost and tire pressure as the weather gets cooler. It's getting very swirly at highway speeds. I drop to 20psi at 20C and 18psi spring pressure at 10C IAT's. I'm currently on 255 Falcon RT660's, but may look into running 275's next summer. They will fit, but barely. Might have to raise the rear a tad.  I'll start redoing my exhaust Monday, as I have the week off. I currently have an oval center muffler and cannon rear muffler. I've been told more then once from people behind me that my rear bumper is going to catch on fire one day. Seems I blow 5-10 second flames after doing a pull. No clue if that's the WMI, as I've never been able to do that before with other cars. I wanted to angle my tip down a tad so flames are pointed down and away from bumper. I also wanted to take the opportunity to reconfigure my exhaust line. I'm going to move my oval muffler to the rear with a pie cut angled tip and put in a new smaller round muffler in the center. I've rocked cannon mufflers on this car for the last few years and want to transition back the oval muffler look. I've also been looking for a stainless project to try out the new solar flux I bought. I'll post pictures on Monday, should be able to wrap that up in a day.  I'm also picking up another rear subframe this week. I wanted a second so that I could modify one with a gk tech anti squat reduction kit during the winter, and still be able to keep the car a roller so I can back it out of the garage if needed. I will also be caging it this winter. More on that later. Lastly, Speedtek still hasn't given me diddly squat. Every week for the last 4 weeks, they have been saying next week. They told me Friday to expect a shipping label that day to ship my two bad sets of ring and pinions back and nothing. There's definitely been more contact since I started destroying their company any chance I get on Facebook, but it's still just words without action.
    • Have you done a pressure test on your intake/piping? Cleaned your IACV and Cold start valve?
    • Bit of a dump of ones I saw on my trip. I also have a heap from daikoko but that’s technically not  on the street
    • i was thinking that the 2 wires that go to the sub from factory has some sort of preamp like you mentioned and also a lo Pass filter to get just bass. now that will only use 1 channel and that really should be all i need for a sub? if i was trying to put a set of speakers in the back i can understand cutting into the left and right speaker wires. i will try how im talking about doing it and if that is crap i will do it the way of all wires. thanks for the input guys.
    • Challenging mig welding thin Aluminium pipe and trying to fit it in, having to bend and twist, but got there in the end. Fits really well and can easily get a socket wrench in there now to put it on/off. I'm in the middle of another project, so haven't installed the suction pipe yet. I'll post some pictures and results when i do.
