Okay ladies n gents, the event is full! A big thankyou to all those who entered and showed interest in this day, it is great to see an awesome turnout with a variety of cars!

Alrighty, I will keep this short and sweet

8am to 8:40am - Scruitineering & Sign-On

Gates open a lot earlier than 8am, so please be there ready to have your car scruitineered. Below is the scruitineering form which will be used on the day, so please use this prior to be sure you won't have any issues. Please can i ask all driver entrants to print this out and bring it with you on the day!! The scruitineering area is a shed closest to the road, outlined in my very artistic map below! :D

PLEASE ENSURE YOU TURN UP TO SCRUITINEERING WITH CAR READY, YOUR HELMET & DRESSED AS YOU WILL BE FOR THE TRACK

Sign-On will need to also be done during this time by all drivers and passengers. This is done in a shed next to the marshalling area. There is a seperate sheet for driver and passengers!! I believe it is a BLUE sign-on sheet for passengers!! Just let the staff know!!

8:45am to 8:55am - Drivers Briefing : TO BE HELD IN THE CANTEEN

This is simply a short but very neccessary breifing on the day and expectations from drivers. Also information on track etiquette, flags and requirements for the day. ALL DRIVERS ARE REQUIRED TO ATTEND!!!!

9am - Fun Begins!!

First group out will be Group 5. We want to 'mate' all Group 4 & 5 drivers up with an experienced driver for their first session, just to give some helpful tips and suggestions to help you out.

We will review how the day is proceeding and make a call on stopping for lunch or not, otherwise we will try to continue non-stop so use your breaks to refuel to keep your energy and concentration up

GROUPS

We are running 5 groups, 10 cars in Groups 1-3 and 9 cars in Groups 4-5. See list below, now i have done my best to sort it out but if you do find on the day you are out of 'sync' with other cars in your group, come see an official and we can sort something out.

SESSIONS

Now with 5 groups we will be running 12 minute sessions. So you get 1 session an hour which is plenty! The 12 minutes will include out and in laps, taking this into consideration, it should mean about 8-9 minutes of 'flying laps'. Now in Wakefield terms, thats about 5-8 laps depending on your times, which is plenty of time to get that blood flowing :woot:

MARSHALLING AREA

This is simple, if you hear your group called up, you need to get your cars to this area, ready to be released once the group on the track is finished. So it is a good idea to keep track (pun intended) of which group is out, so you know how long you have!

PLEASE, no general parking in this area!!!!!

DRIVING INSTRUCTORS

There will be a plenty of us around to hop in and help out! we may just come and plonk ourselves into your car, or just simply indicate you want someone to come in with you!! Most the driver ed's will be hanging around the marshalling area. We will identify these people during the driver briefing

PASSENGERS

For those already paid and listed, you will be issued with a wristband! For anyone wanting to take advantage of this great experience on the day, there will be someone roaming around accepting $20 payments, if in doubt just ask :)

WRISTBANDS

We will be checking every single driver and passenger for a wristband before you are released onto the track, so please no dodgy stuff!!

FOOD & TOILETS

There is a canteen which do food and drinks and toilets are located next to marshalling area as well!

PHOTOGRAPHERS

We will have some pro's there on the day, so stay tuned as we are currently finalising costs and details for a great package!!

I think thats about it! So double check, triple check your cars, review the scruitineering checklist and lets get ready to have a blast!!!!!!!!!!! :D:banana::D

PS. Take WARM clothing, it will be ffffrrrrreeeeezzzzzziiiinnnggggg

SAU:NSW will have a club photographer at Wakefield offering services at amazing rates.

The SAU:NSW executive team has been hard at work negotiating with a photographer so that we can offer reduced price, high quality photos on a DVD for you to remember the day with. It's a win-win situation, you get great quality photos super cheap and help to support local photographers.

Imagine, these could be photos of your car!

(Actual samples of Tenchi's work - he will be our club sponsored photographer for the day)

How's it work?

At the track there will be a sign up point where you can pay $20 as a member or $30 as a non member to sign up. Sign up consists of self addressing a CD/DVD mailing envelope and signing in on the photography clip board. You need to make sure that you clearly identify your car so that the photographer knows to look for you. You will need to list your name, address, car make/model/color and racing session number.

Within 30 days we will mail a DVD out to you with all of the photos from the day, not just your own. What a great way to remember such a fun filled day and get some great action shots of you driving your car.

Cost:

$20 members / $30 for non-members. Payment only accepted in cash on the day.

good stuff

i put down my last lap time as 1:15, but i'll probably be around 1:10-1:11 now as the car has under gone a bit of a change. will this be a problem if im in group 4?

lol i'm in the fast group.

Should be interesting considering the time was done in my last 200, but the pirate ship should be able to do something similar provided the driver pulls his finger out

As stated in initial post, if you find you are out of sync with the rest of your cars in the group within the first couple of sessions, come see me or an official. We will see about shuffling.

The day is not a supersprint or a timed event so don't worry too much. I don't expect everyone to be going 10/10ths. If you find you are hounding the car infront, don't push the issue, this will only lead to disaster. Simply slow down, give yourself a decent buffer then get back on it.

I have allocated groups from info provided, understandably there may be some discrepancies, but we will do our best to accomdate you on the day! :D

Red mist can be dangerous stuff! Anyone remember Oran Park South? :D

Hi Ando,

I wouldn't worry about the experienced driver being with my mate in Group 4. He's raced before. He used to hold a decent level cams license (I think he let it lapse) and is the chief engineer for that little lotus that came 4th at Superlap.

How much time is there in change over between groups. I am in group 5 and he is group 4 or are we running in a different order? Thinking of cooling for the car, tyres and holding people up.

Looking forward to this!!

cheers,

Nathan

Hey Nathan,

Yeah no dramas with him needing an instructor! Its for the first timers :D

Um there is no delay between groups, you would be literally pulling in, changing drivers and heading straight back out..... It 'should' be fine though, Wakefield will be cold, make sure you do a couple of cool down laps, then the couple of minutes handover should give the breaks a breather! Plenty of cars do this and a couple are doing it at this day already. As said, just nurse it for the last couple of laps and all good.

That said, if you find the car is not happy with running back to back sessions, come see me....

    • So the clockspring is responsible for the indicators cancelling on their own? I thought that was the function of that white thing in the center (any idea what it's called?)
    • Can you log IAT? Whilst WTA coolers have their place, doing any sort of sustained run is not one of them There are fixes that slow down the heat soak, like ice boxes, which don't last that long, and interchillers, which are fairly expensive, up grades to the WTA cooling radiator, which may require a bigger pump, and upgrades to the reservoir size,  and upgrades to the cooling fans, but, it all still heat soaks, and takes ages to come down in hot weather  For a turbo, that isn't locked into WTA like my PD blower is, can you not possibly swap to a nice air to air intercooler????, it would be better for sustained runs then, and have alot less things that could go wrong in my opinion
    • So, the other thing I've sorted is a baseline dyno run up at Unigroup's new location. The auto trans was a little unco-operative by both shifting down when the throttle was floored on the dyno (so Mark had to ramp it up more slowly than in a manual) and also by shifting up at 6,000 even in sports mode instead of the indicated redline of 7,000 Still, on a hot day it made 240rwkw at 16psi which seems about right for 300kw (400hp) through an auto at the wheels.  The shape of the curve is not quite right because it was not full throttle to about 4,500 to stop it kicking down, but until I can get a tune on the auto trans control this was the best we could do.....full boost will be well below 5,000 once that is sorted, I'll get some data logs when I can to confirm For comparison, the R32 made 255 at 12psi (at 4,500) on the same dyno with tune, n1 turbos, cam gears, big exhaust but otherwise all standard so the v37 is likely a little better out of the box. One thing that is very clear is that the standard water to air intercoolers are not up to sustained use at full throttle in warm ambient temps. After about 5 runs (so only a few minutes full throttle), it was pulling boost and timing and dropping 10-15% power. Unfortunately I didn't get that printout and the Unigroup guys are away at the moment, will try and get hold of it on their return. So, looks like a healthy engine to start modifying and the only real area of concern is the w2a heat exchangers which the aftermarket has plenty of solutions for
    • I maintain it actually looked really nice in person. So much so that I thought "No, this is illegal" but there it was, clear as day. I think we can easily call the wing and wheels/height to be transformative. Not saying it's better than the GR Whatever, or the 86, or the WRX STI or anything of that sort (the internet says it all bolts up so you can buy best of all worlds?) but it's still at least a thing and not nearly AS bad as people say.
    • That's less offensive than the previous gen.....except for all that ugly black tupperware around the edges. Blerck!
