i have a currently have an r34 gtt non turbo due to the fact i am on my p's, im getting off in 2 months and was wondering the difficulty and the cost of installing an rb26 into the car. Is it just a matter of getting the engine and installing it or do you need to buy everything new that is under the hood? just wondering because a mate of mine is selling an rb26dett cheap and if its not to costly i might have it put into my car for more power?

Work out how much you'll think it will be then add another 25%. There are always pitfalls, I've got a mate currently trying to put an SR20DE into his 180 and its a nightmare. Looms don't match up, wrong ECU, etc.

This is more the fault of the engine importer, but conversions are never as simple as they seem.

forget the idea. by the time you then buy the gearbox from a turbo car, bolt it all in, etc, you will have spent more than selling your car and buying a turbo version, and the turbo version will have better brakes, lsd (if yours doesn't have one). for what you sell your car for, then buy a turbo version, you could probably mod it up to having more power than the rb26 does.

Indeed, add to that you'll need better brakes, suspension and diff your much better off selling your car and buying a GTT and then either modding that up or doing the 25/30 hybrid motor or if you have the cash do both. Doing that you will have a lot more power than a stockie RB26 and it would of been cheaper too and without all that hassle.

See my signature as to what can happen when doing/being forced into something like this in a R34.

Sell, save, GTR.
